POND 5 How to video for beginners and beyond

Madvideos 26 Jan 2022 20:34
Hey guys, just wanted to share this with you all, I try to cover as much as I can in this video and explain and in some cases over explain some of the most common issues or requests I have come along as well as a step by step upload and submit portion, well.. you tell me how bad it sucks lol, it won't win any awards but if it helps just one single contributor it was totally worth making. Let me know what you think, bad and good, I am aware of the sliding in one section, the audio is too low etc.. but if you see something wrong with something I am doing I will make a follow up video later so any critiques are welcome. Good tutorial, well explained with no steps left out. I would have had some fun with it though in light of the extreme low sales these days and shot the whole video beside or in a Lambo, a rented Lambo and you'd have to do it in one take as with sales being this slow probably can only afford to rent the car for five minutes.

@Newsmarket, thanks brother!
I love the idea, fake guru style hahah.. need bundles of cash too, I will blow up for sure then!! It is absolutely bonkers how it works though.

Sales are like that on all of the agencies, even shutterstock, it was not uncommon for me to sell 4-5 images a day, now its half that.

Probably best to keep it real though, that way people don't have false hopes especially these days.

@NewsMarket , for sure man, there are some youtubers making this seem like a life of luxury, far from that, more like a life of paying a few bills. These fakes don't post portfolio links in their description, they can't prove anything because they don't show their dashboards either. The ones that do, mad respect son!

The fact is this is extremely hard work, it is complicated, requires intense patience, the time consumption is brutal, however, that is a personal choice, I know you tubers that chill with it and do well. I often say camera gear don't matter, well, that depends on how much money you really want to make, shooting with a RED camera will certainly earn you more, and it could be a video of a brick on the ground lol, drone footage also, and to even sell drone footage you have to make a serious investment in 1. Drone 2. Travel to locations 3. Get a FAA permit in the USA to legally sell that footage, the permit is now $175 just to schedule the test. A lot of commitment, I lost my drone so that story ended there for me.

The most important part of all this, in order to make anything at all you must be 100% passionate about videography and photography. This is not a hobby one can just pick up with the singular goal of getting rich!! It takes years to get your investment back in most cases. I absolutely love making videos, for over 25 years now so I love it.

Some of the youtubers I follow.. I have learned a LOT from these channels, the things I have learned have been hidden in their videos, they often times mention things they take for granted but unlocks a new level for me, an example is Nicole Glass mentioning she had 2 Pond 5 accounts and how (Exclusive and Non exclusive) , she mentioned it real quick and did not lay any context to it but it helped me, that was one of the best tips!! I strive to do the same, hopefully I will mention things that most don't know about and can instantly level someone up!!

I agree but the money earned is less and less from all aspects of photo and video now plus times are changing and consumer/viewer interests are changing and adapting is hard when you're not 15 years old anymore, if you're seen the way they shoot video these days for TikTik it's actually hard to do unless you're drunk.

So while there it still a market for fine art and well shot professional content there's a market for what some call "cellphone crap"

YouTube is interesting though and it's everything you mentioned above but even then some channels have more interesting and useful content than others and are less about hype and more about specific things you can do to earn money and they don't skip steps along the way. Still it's a lot of work that may or may not pan out just like stock.

This guy now makes more on YouTube per month than I make here in stock but you can see how he gets the all important watch time.

and I follow this guy, different content but I like how he explains and reviews everything and is totally honest.

Hi Madvideos;
Very useful content. I learned a few things for sure and am going back to watch it again this morning. I am a bit of an anomaly as I shoot mainly wildlife, but I usually am shooting for other purposes, not just for stock. I set a goal of 5-10 uploads per day, either new shoots or mining. Anyway - thanks and hope you make another. BTW - two questions. Are you finding stills are worthwhile? 2. You mention Stringer as an agency but I cannot find it online. Have I got the name wrong?
Madvideos 27 Jan 2022 18:55
@WinterQuartersProductions https://www.stringr.com/join/B9CMWB. It is hard to find on google, odd but I had problems at first too.
Man I am so glad you got something out of that, yes I will be making more, I am making the stringr video today, almost done. It is a easy platform to use, bird shots will sell on Stringr, I have sold commercial plenty of times on Stringr.
As far as images, it is a nice dinner once a month. Sometimes more, sometimes less. I enjoy it so I keep going with them, I have about a years worth to go through but video is where the money is for sure!! I sometimes dedicate a month to just images, uploaded 2000 in Dec. But I go for stuff nobody else is. It is money regardless of how much and I get tickled every time I sell one even if it is for 10 cents
