Pal or ntsc ?

Following a guide to shooting AVCHD video on the Sony RX10 they guy said it is best to set the AVCHD in the options menu to NTSC, wherever you are from, not ust the US as the quality will be better. As I am new to this I just wanted to confirm if that would be true and if so, being in the UK can I record with it and upload here ?

Thanks.

Did you get a manual with your camera? The RX10 only shoots NTSC. Here are the specs on that camera.

Manual is no good. It's a well known fact. It shoots Pal also as you get the option in the menu.

You have the European version which has both Pal/NTSC. Since your upload to the us market NTSC would be the better choice since the highest percentage of sale are for NTSC footage.

Why do you think that we're uploading only for us market??p5/SS/is are worldwide stock agencies...said that i think ntsc is the way to go...

sebolla74 if your not happy with what I said go else where.

This may be an international agency but NTSC sells far better than PAL here.https://www.pond5.com/index.php?page=artist_resources

Personally I shoot mostly NTSC. When I can, I will also shoot 25fps but only 1) when I think it might sell internationally and 2) when I remember :) I've only got a handful of 25fps clips however.

Well I am going to shoot NTSC at 60 fps in most cases so I have the option for slow motion in post.

Jason,i said that ntsc is the way to go...and it's not about us delivering but about internet standard framerate...i see a lot of stock footages on youtube which is known to prefer ntsc...
However this is public place where we share opinions and to be polite is always a good way to talk..
If you felt offended for what i wrote i'm sorry,i didn't want to...

Marbury:

PAL and NTSC are color standards/formats, not frame rates as such and don't really mean much to us stock shooters when shooting progressive HD.

Just choose the frame rate you want. With some cameras you have to select NTSC to have access to 30 and PAL for access to the 25fps - but that's as far as you need bother with PAL & NTSC.

60fps, which might be a good option for slow motion or when there's fast action, may (or may not ;-) give an overly "video" look in some circumstances, which may or may not be what you want ;-) - also the file sizes will be much bigger.

24,25 & 30 sell fine all round the world - it's the content that the buyers are interested in.

Hope that helps.
