for me i'm not communicated about prices or other topic about selling content clips, even i ask to support for how can i take my $ sell in a automatic process thru Paypal, why? Pond5 knows how to sell our clips i get $2.88 of my $35 in my own set Price when i check a content, there no downloading maybe the partner saying to me my content clips is no good a quality that clips...

I think the issue here is a lack of misunderstanding of how things work here (and most agencies). You upload a file. You set a minimum price for your file and it goes online for sale. Pond5 then sells that file for whatever they want... your minimum price does not mean a thing. Your $149 4K clip is sold to a big customer that Pond5 wants to keep for $9 and your cut is $2.88. Boom, period, that how it works. There is literally NOTHING you can do on Pond5 to set your clips prices and have Pond5 stick to those prices. You're gonna get what you're gonna get. And either it's enough to keep you going and producing more clips, or its not and you give up after a few hundred and just let them sit here.

MidwestStockFootage:

I don't think of any of us veterans are clueless anymore about what really is happening at P5 these days but the fact that $9 (or whatever abysmally low number) sale could be a price P5 is willing to give away our content for is where I fail to understand the sudden change from what was and what is the current policy

Yeah, you could extrapolate that P5 is giving away thousands and thousands of clips for pennies and that all adds up to a healthy revenue stream for P5, nothing but exasperation for the content creators who remember the good ole days (for the newbies here, that wasn't that long ago) when our content was actually worth something

How our content could be worth hundreds of dollars (our percentage of the sale) to basically nothing these days is pretty mindblowing. My inbox is full of P5 emails like "Get your free clip today!" or "Get 25% off today!!" sounds great for those who are looking for a clip to use but pretty much conditions them to expect free

Free begets free. But like I've said before in these forums, P5/SS will conduct their business solely on what they feel benefits them and that has nothing to do with what benefits us contributors

That said, the newbies signing up have no context for pricing. "Exposure" and the enjoyment of seeing one's clip downloaded, not income, are their benchmarks and P5 is all for that

Not sure how these low sales even occur, does someone send an email in and say they want a clip but will only pay 18 dollars for it, I guess also years ago there weren’t any stock video sites on pond5 with anything upto a few million clips, I make my living from stills sold on other sites even some of these have had still image library’s Arrives, I have not had a low priced sale so far but will have to make a choice when or if it happens, it’s a bizzare situation if I walked into any shop and offered to purchase an item for a fifth of the price I would be laughed out of the store

@DavidHornchurch ".. does someone send an email in and say they want a clip but will only pay 18 dollars for it..."

P5's YouTube video at 9 min point describes how buyers call P5's Sales Team to "price shop" for footage. If a buyer calls in to price shop for a bundle/package of clips the per-clip price is likely to plummet to secure the sale.

I did listen to the clip but people selling exclusively are still getting paid ridiculous amounts, I can understand pond5 matching the price of an artists clip if he is not exclusive and selling it on other sites but not for exclusive accounts
PCDMedia 27 Dec 2022 19:37
Yes they are still getting small sales amounts.

But being Exclusive was never a price guarantee. Being Exclusive only offered that we would receive a higher royalty percentage of sale at whatever negotiated price. In our Contributor contracts P5 reserves right to determine final price even for Exclusives and there is no opt-out other than removing our P5 footage portfolios.

Current footage numbers on P5 seem to show that only 7-8% are Exclusive - rather low in my estimation. Many of the non-Exclusives may be available on those other marketplaces in competition with P5 Exclusives. This competition would affect Exclusive sale pricing regardless of how contributors price our Exclusive footage. Then there's the geographical differences in pricing....
DavidHornchurch 27 Dec 2022 21:45
He actually said people with the same footage on several sites can be price matched to the lowest, exclusive means not available so the price offered is correct, I am exclusive and have not received a low price, if pond5 want to sell my work for less the account is pulled, pond5 is a tiny sideline for myself, I make a full time living selling images
