Mizamook, how is it a buyer pays more than listed price? Do they get in a bidding war with themselves or someone else?

I'm not sure exactly. Since it's a Premium license, they probably agreed to the price, then purchased additional seats/terms/indemnification from Pond5. You'd think such terms would also include a 3-year holdback (so real exclusivity for three years) or something.

A Business License may also sell for more than the list price. Had one once.

I had a $79 clip sell for several hundred dollars once and I was told by Pond5 it was purchased for a movie which is a different license than for episodic television or commercials.

Also had a still photo sell on another site for over $1000 and that was for "print rights" in the USA Today newspaper.

I'm saying it's refreshing to hear of some truly high priced sales here, even above a decent asking price, since there's a lot of comments lately of "low priced" sales, even lower than a low beginning price

I know what it's like to license an image for big bucks (not here) but video clip licensing here, for me at least, is a pretty low dollar affair but I'll take it. The first two clips I did license here I thought a TV station had licensed them (as they were pretty newsworthy and surely that was a time for an above-asking price license) but one never knows, right? I got asking price only, like my third one a month ago
