$5 tracks ruined the marketplace for most authors over at AJ... guess Pond5 figured their huge rate increase wasn't enough, now they wanna flood anybody actually trying to make a decent side gig out of this with people who are willing to sell music for... bragging rights I guess? You can't make any money at $5 a track.

Nor will they see a penny until they reach a minimum of 25 dollars for a payout on the 15th of the month.

Very sad. I wish people/newcomers would understand that undercutting each other doesn't help anyone.

I understand how it can be tempting in these hard times, but someone once told (and taught!) me 'If you don't value your music for what it's worth, why should others'. I stick by that. I'd rather have no sales than under-pricing them and basically say 'here you go, it's bad anyway'.

My experience has been a bit different. I've found that plenty of buyers are willing to pay more than $5 for material they really want to use. On the other hand, I have quite a few items that, for whatever reason, never sold. A lot of them are from when I first started here and the sound quality wasn't as good.
So I've put some of these items into a $5 bin specifically targeted at people on a tight budget. Better that some items sell for $5 than never sell at all. And it doesn't seem to have hurt the higher priced items in my portfolio.
Just trying to take lemons and make lemonade.

Sound logic for sure.
