Wondering if anyone has experience selling news footage on Pond5. I know EarthUncut does but his footage is remarkable and often of whole earth interest. I am Canadian, so our news is not of such wide interest. Examples are vast wildfires this last couple of summers and extreme flooding and bridge and road washouts right now. Access is, of course, cut off so I am thinking of hiring a plane for some aerial shots. I used to do quite a bit of still photo and film aerial work but not recently. I would try and market directly to local TV but am wondering if Pond5 is a market for stock. One of the issues it that can take up to 10-14 days to get clips up and live on Pond5. I would price these higher of course, but aerials are expensive and news timely. Thoughts?

Yes, but if you are shooting video from a plane or chopper make sure it's a stable as possible, my guess is a drone would not be allowed anywhere over that area and even the airspace might be restricted to keep news choppers back.
Editorial sells and stuff like this has a climate change angle to it as well, it's also cut Vancouver off from the rest of the country, all major road and rail lines are washed out so there's a massive hit to the supply chain for anything coming from Asia be it finished products or components or chips.
A ship tracker site or app would probably show a lot of ships sitting out there waiting to get into the closed ports as well.
The one thing I like about editorial and it's sold for me in the past btw is you can't just create this stuff on set or in a studio, a lot of it is one off and now you have video or it.
Unfortunately, there is a delay in getting files approved on any stock site but I don't know if it matter much, I think the clients will be production companies, the TV stations and broadcast media networks would love your video the second you shoot it but the will offer you a "credit" for all your work for free to use on all platforms and some are generous enough these days to offer you "exposure".
