Yet another pricing question

You'll not see any mass price changes until you use the search at the top of the page.

I gave up trying to do an exact 75% of 4k price, it was taking too long. Now I just get an average of a selection of prices on any given page, come up with a reasonable 1080 higher pricing and batch that price. Much faster.

Like I say, I'm the new guy here and the number I had in my mind when pricing my 4k clips was that was what I was going to receive 60% of (Exclusive). But then it occurred to me that most likely someone will just buy the 1080 version and at the end, I wasn't going to receive much at all for my work.

Of course, there's always pricing your work too high and nobody will buy your clips but if the price is so low and what you'd receive is peanuts anyway, what's the point?

The algorithm the site uses is more to blame for sales or lack of than the price of your clips IMO. If no one sees your clips, then they surely will not buy them.

Well, how P5's algorithms decide to showcase our work is another thread. I'm just trying to make sure, if that's even possible, to get at least something for my clips, especially if someone just buys the 1080 version.

I'm well aware of the theory that if someone wants your clip they'll pay your price, and going cheap doesn't help. That, again, is not the point of this thread.

I use the option to set my price and then choose "Same price on all sizes." That seems to work for me.

@ SINGLETRACK
Madvideos, before I try that: does the process you've outlined use a percentage of the HD price for the downconverted (1080) version? Like, instead of the default 50% I can choose 75% or whatever?
It is not by percentage, you enter a price, 25 for 25.00 if 4k is 100 then I would go 75 or 85 for 1080 p.

And, "select all", is that me going through my entire set of clips and manually selecting each one or is that an automatic process by P5 to select all of my clips?
on the uploads page in ONLINE mode from the drop down select the item count, I usually use 200 as 800 will take a LOOOOONG time. Then once the page loads then at the bottom right there is a checkbox that selects all, then you drop the bottom menu down and at the very bottom you select price, this price will apply to all selected

And, like trucic asked, how to avoid this backfiring and messing up my current HD pricing?
It will only affect what you selected and changed, it does not affect all of your media

Hope that helps

@WinterQuartersProductions
are you talking about Customize downconverted price percentages? in preferences, set it and forget it?
WinterQuartersProductions 25 Jan 2022 23:26
Mad videos; When I am in the edit mode it asks for a price or, give the option for Pond 5 to set the price. Their price is always too low, so I set the price in 4k and then select the option of "Same prices on all sizes." Maybe you are talking about a different work flow that i am not familiar with.
