THE SPLASH

Does anyone get overly excited when they receive their copy of Slash each month?? No because there isn't anything interesting in it that cannot be found in the home page. At least a competitor sends out a news letter with useful information and helpful tips for new and old artist alike not just a copy of their home page.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is that "The Splash" is boring.

I agree on that. Also, it should promote more artists, not a top of them, but a variety, based on a different criteria. I am seek and tired of always seeing almost the very same names - Are spotmatik, wavebreakmedia and yofitofu the only P5 contributors? Do not get me wrong, I have nothing wrong with either one of them, it is just the fact that these are about the only names one could see in the Splash month by month. Pond5 is shooting itself in the foot by promoting the very same artists.

P5's defense will probably be, "it's an automated process." OK, how about NOT making it automated? Hand-pick a few different artists each month. If the "top" artists are what is selected for the newsletter, they're already at the top. They don't necessarily need more exposure.

Yep...make it interesting, varied, engaging, and entertaining. I totally agree that it is not any of these things, and that re-hyping "The Greats" is not that interesting. I keep seeing a lot of great work from new artists. Why not spotlight a few with a little more intimacy?

It would be nice to see sections from the forum expanded upon, such as the current h.264 secrets which could be informative for providers to Pond5. In addition I'd really like to see some comments from consumers, I know this is a broad church, but some ideas about their needs and wants when they access the facility.

Jason, are you putting something here then deleting it?
EastboundProductions 27 Aug 2013 09:12
I agree, nothing that I care about is in the newsletter. It'd be great if there were some practical tips, ideas or really good information in there, but it's a waste of an email as it stands now.

It's a total conspiracy Jake... Jason doesn't even exist on this planet. ;)
