Reviews: Canon 5D Mark II

Thanks a lot Norman! I´ll look into it.

I got a little bit frustrated with the stills because I am getting color fringing and lens flares all the time, even though I know how to avoid them and have an otherwise good lens (EF-S 17-55 2.8). I have also figured out that I am not a real fan of Photoshop and the like. (Better like to deal with a video codec than with a clone tool :)...So I just uploaded a hand full to some "dreamy" place so far. What I do not want is missing good clips because of wasting time with stills that later on are more time consumers than money earners. But a good, light PS-style cam that does not give you the same creative possibilities but more predictable technical quality could be a good option for a trip.

Hi Stefan,

I use the Canon G9 as part time stock camera, mainly I use a Nikon D300. I agree about photoshop, I don't like editing in front of the computer, but after processing so many photos, I edit in automatic mindset.

The HV30 and workflow is a dream in comparison.

Absolutely agree. HV30 is a completely different story. Shoot, select, convert, upload, and that´s it.

Video will always be my main thing but I´ll also continue with the stills. I like e.g. the night time long exposures and that´s something I couldn´t do with the HV30 anyways. But I´d need to have my lens checked and more solid PS skills in order to make this thing worthwhile.

Thanks again for the advice Norman!

Stefan
