People have been spouting about "market saturation" for years now. Although there is an increase in music and general media, i think this is also fueled by the demand as an increase in independent production companies who are constantly seeking new stock material who cant afford house composers. I entered the stock music market around 2012, right as many claimed the market was overly saturated, and after about a year of consistent updloading and writing to my catalog, i have had more or less consistent sales up until this point. there are always gonna be dips in the market, i have my good months and my bad. But to me its all about finding your niche genre wise and really digging in it. Take audiosparx for example, theyve been one of the longest operating stock libraries, have way more files present that p5, and they still generate strong sales. I dont get nearly as many there as i do with p5, but its still consistent. I firmly believe when it comes to submitting and making sales in any music library, patience and work output is key.

yes Sbstudios... sometimes it's tedious and repetitive, but it's really a labor of love. I couldn't imagine trying to do this for the money without the passion. I love what I do, and for that I get rewarded what someone working full time at a minimum paying job would make if they worked as many hours as I put into this. It can't be about money all time time.

I had a huge drop in sales in the last 3 months and then all of a sudden a huge burst of sales, for example, i sold more in 2 weeks than all 3 months before that combined...i have no idea how this works.

I've got no idea how this works either. Almost all the marketplaces I'm selling on have now tanked, really concerning...

I cant agree with you more dapoopta. it is passion and a little consideration of money. i always say they pay me to have fun! the little i get from especially pond5, pays for my park fees and accommodation in decent game lodges where i go to collect some more clips. but my passion is to watch and learn more about this earthly creatures that have taken over my heart. if i could make enough to live off this kind of work, i would stay in the bush forever--real bushman.

"constantly seeking new stock material who cant afford house composers." is a good point. Does any composer even want customers like that?
