Sound off set as default automatically

My video clips are often with sound - and some of them have probably sold due to this. Today I experienced that sound off has become the default value when you watch a clip. I find this very unfortunate - as viewers often would not turn the sound on.

I disagree - most stock footage is uploaded without sound and for many years we have asked for the default to be "off". The intent of stock footage is "footage" not sound. How do you know that your footage was sold because of the sound? There is no way you could know this beyond a reasonable doubt. If you think sound is what sells, then simply upload the sound portion separately as a sound file.

I can think of many instances where sound would be an important component of a video clip, and thus make it more marketable. If you're looking for a clip of a firetruck going by with lights flashing, wouldn't you rather have the siren sound that goes with it? I just uploaded a clip of a babbling brook in a forest, and I think the clip is more marketable with the forest and gurgling creek sounds.

Maybe some people don't want the sound, but some people will.

@ pvreditor

When someone who has been a contributor here for many years tells you that audio isn't what sells video clips you should listen and learn from their experience. Why not take the time to enlight yourself by going through some of the posts in AS SEEN ON how video footage is used.

Thank you for your heavy-handed insight there, Jason!
