Are these guys legit?

I was contacted by a guy from an outfit called "EPIC Music LA." They seem interested in trying to potentially place some of my tracks in exchange for publishing and 50/50 mechanicals for a fixed term. I keep control of all my masters. Seems reasonable as far as it goes.
Has anyone here heard of or worked with them? If so, do you consider them legitimate, fair dealers? Thanks in advance for any light you can shed. If you'd rather not comment on the forum, feel free to message me. Thanks again.

I checked out the "Why Epic" page at their site. There are some quotes at the bottom from clients. A few advertising, and some identified only as "music supervisor". They totally could be protecting the identities so people like us don't bombard them. The libraries I work with primarily do TV, so I'd want to find out if these guys have legit TV placements. Also, if you go to the "Our Team" page and try researching and/or contacting individuals on the team. You'll probably get a good feel from personal contact. Making a phone call and speaking to a human being will probably tell you even more.

I wanted to circle back on this thread. They sent me some materials, including a copy of their standard artist agreement. Included in the agreement is an option for them to buy anything you submit for a flat 250 USD and treat it thereafter as a work for hire. To me this means that if something you submitted to them got a lucrative placement they could exercise their option and buy out the future royalty income stream for peanuts. Not that they necessarily would in all cases, but it was enough to give me pause. In the end, I told them "thanks but no thanks."
Oh, and atlemusic, I believe P5 is strictly non-exclusive at this point.

I don't believe there to be an "exclusive" option here.
