Badaling Great Wall literally means the Ten Thousand Mile Wall was built in the Ming Dynasty (1505) to occupy a commanding and strategic position for protecting the Juyongguan Pass on its south, further protecting the city of Beijing. Badaling Great Wall is located in Yanqing County, approximately 50 miles northwest of urban Beijing city in Yanqing County. Badaling Great Wall winds its way among the undulating high peaks north of Beijing City.
