Clip submission & Repeated process for each clip

When I upload a clip I always upload all available formats. There one incovenient and it is that I have to submit each time for each clip. Even though the clip is the same, P5 system treat it as diferent one.
This means that 3 clips becomes 12 clips (with all formats) when it comes to enter the metadata. For that reason my uploads to the system is pretty slow, you can imagine the amount of work.
Now, P5 has a great system in place and I would be sorprise if I'm not doing the thing right. So my first questions is:
- Is there a system where I can link all formats together and just enter one metadata (creating a template will no help if it will be 4 formats per clip)
Thanks in advanced.

Why so many uploads of all available formats? Have you found that you actually do sell in all of these different formats?
P5 has said in the past that they will be offerering different quality size for clips. I'm sure they are working the conversion process. Is that what you mean or do you mean different codex and actual formats such as PAL or progressive versus interlaced?
I have only used one HD format have been pretty successful. If I shoot in 60i then I always leave it in Motion B and if Ishoot in Progressive I process to Photo JPEG. I agree that when P5 can truly go international it may help with 24/30 progressive but HD is a little different animal than SD. Sorry just a few questions of my own, I know I really did not answer your question, just added to it ;). Oh the world of stock, just fun ain't it.

You can use multiple templates to do that. Create a base template for each format you intend to submit that has all the technical stuff like aspect ratio, interlaced or progressive, source, price, copyright info and so on. Apply that first. Keep those templates to use them again and again. You can actually apply these templates to all clip of the same format in one go.
Second: create a template that hold only clip specific data such as title, description, categories, keywords... Call it "current" or whatever you'd like. Make sure that all the things you want to keep from the base template are blank or marked as "Exclude from template". You change/adjust this template for each set of clips you submit.
Mark all versions of your clip, apply the template "current", associate the version and send them to the curator. Done.

If you go to https://www.pond5.com/fr/index.php?page=my_uploads
Select the verbose checkbox and click the search button,
Optional: Click on the OriginalFilename header to sort by the original filename of the uploaded clip
If you have tagged one clip property, say apa_hd.mov and want to tag apa_ntsc.mov and apa_pal.mov, click the leftmost checkboxes for apa_ntsc.mov and apa_pal.mov.
Then scroll to the bottom, "for all selected clips" choose "copy tags from clip"
a new dropdown appears, select apa_hd.mov and click execute.
This copies name, description, copyright, is_loopable, media_source, keywords, top 5 keywords, keywords checkboxes, original_source, aspect_ratio, uploader_is_author, location_country, location_city, region, reel, media_created_at_int from apa_hd.mov.
Please tell us if you find this to cumbersome and we'll try to improve it.
Best regards,
Marcus

Great looks like Marcus gave an answer, super.
So secondary question. Is anyone having any real sales by using multiple formats or sizes of same clip?

On Animations and photo time lapse, yes. Otherwise... hard to tell, but I don't think so. Of course there is no proof that people that buy NTSC would have bought HD1080p30 if NTSC wasn't available.

Based on the trend I am seeing from software mfg's such as AVID, they pretty much take care of conversions automatically on the timeline. I saw a demo recently where they brought in NTSC, HDV, PAL, 25p, 30i etc.. basically a potpourrie of formats and were able to cleanly gen anything they wanted. It was pretty amazing actually - all in real time too. Vegas 8 is pretty good at that too. I would guess that if someone from the pro-world comes in - it really doesn't matter that much, although they are leaning towards HD more and more.

Hey all! Thanks for the info. Marcus, thanks for the description, I will certainly try that. Don...how you are doing? I use a very common strategy, the more options you have, the more people have to choose from. Same as of any other product, they come in different packages and sizes, but the same content.
I recently read some info on sales on SD and they seem to be strong, almost 60% the rest was for HD and other small web sizes. As for my content that has all formats 85% is NTSC, the rest is PAL and HDs.

Probably 95% of my clips are HD. With a good contrast bright color HD clip even at 15 seconds it pushes 500mb. I've had some clips due to continent that are only 12 seconds still push the 500mb. It will be nice when there is a good and effective way to sell HD clips in a more compact format and codex.

Hey Don....have you tried quicktime photo-jpeg at 91% maximum quality? So far it has been on of the best settings without compromising quality....Do a few tests. All best.
