JVC unveils SDHC memory card camcorder

Full HD and at under $4000, not to bad.
It records either Apple Quicktime or a version of MP2. which I think is the same bitrate as the XDCAM.
The best is it records on regular SDHC cards.

I think Panasonic is thumping themselves in the head with their over priced proprietary P2 cards......

Their also unveiling a shoulder mount camera in Feburary using the same SDHC format.

There's going to be a few companies thumping their heads as there isn't one of them that can shoot for six hours on just two cards. With only 1/4 ccd's the lux is going to be high in low light conditions.

But the cards are hot swapable, so when one fills up it goes the second one and you replace the full card.
The main thing is, you don't have to buy a $600-$800 card to do it.

Wow. Can't wait to see this cam. When is the ship date... if I can make $4k by then, I might pick up a second camera.

The problem is, it still has a kinda small sensor size, so it won't have max detail, great DOF effect, or any of those other types of features.

Jake, iI told you that the other day that you could get those 32Gb cards for $ 100.00. You don't have to swap cards it's 6 hours continuous HD recording.

Damn, Mr. money bags.
It's listed on B&H website but no arrival date.
I think sometime in Feburary

Scott, it's to late for you as you already have the FX1000.
JHDT_Productions 12 Jan 2009 18:16
I don't see me shooting for 6 hours straight anyway.
I'm not saying this is the camera for me, I still want something with a 20x zoom, so I'm upgading to another HDV cam.

Mark, I think to get a camera that has the DOF builtin you'll have to go to the Scarlet or the Canon DSLR.
Other then that, use a DOF adaptor. Even that is combersome but I've found it to have great "production value" since they are my best sellers.

Jake, just looked at the spec. and by far the FX1000 Is the better camera.
JVC 3lux, no remote lanc and only one filter.
