Right- I have downloaded Adobe Premier 6 cloud trial version. So far I am liking the features BUT when I come to export a H.264 file the quality is still excellent but it exports as an MP4. No way of selecting Qucktime as in Magix.
Also, the file is only 20 MB when rendered but the quality looks fine. Is this ok ?
If not, can anyone who uses this software advise on export settings please ?
Thanks.

You need to make sure QuickTime is loaded on your computer first. Sounds like you do already. Trust me it works just fine. Keep trying.

The only thing is the media encoder CC (whatever that is) fails to install everytime. There is NO option for Quicktime in rendering.

Maybe it doesn't support this function in the trial version?

As Don said you need to ensure that you have Quicktime installed.
I'm using PP CC but if I recall it is exactly the same as 6 - When you do a file export the Export Settings window will open.
On the upper right you should see 'Export Settings'. The first item 'Format' is where you set it to Quicktime. You should see quite a few other options such as avi, png, targa, flv, tiff, etc. (h264 is also an option here)
Below that you will see a tabbed section 'Effects/Video/Audio/Captions/Ftp' - This is where you set your codec and other encoding parameters.
If you have set our FORMAT to H264 it will encode to an MP4 wrapper. What you probably want to do is select Quicktime as the Format and H264 as the codec under the video tab.
If you don't see this or are still having issues sent me a private message with your e-mail and I can send you some screen grabs if you like.

Ok, I am with you thanks. I made the mistake of setting the format to H.264 instead of QT. I always rendered Quicktime as a H.264 in Magix hence the confusion. What I am not sure about is what to set the preset as that also gives many options with H.264 in some of those too. (it really is very confusing) Anyway, just rendered it to that spec and it comes out blocky and horrible.

Adobe do video tutorials - have you checked them out?

Yes, I am going through them but haven't seen anything on exporting HQ videos.

I just did a quick test and here are my settings -
Video Codec - H264
Quality - 90%
Width 1920
Height: 1080
Fame Rate: 23.976
Field Order: Progressive
Aspect: Square
The result is a normal looking H264 file. Also, I am exporting directly out of PP vs using Media Encoder (the Queue option).

Ok, I was doing all that you list except frame rate. What settings do you have for "Preset" and other things n advanced settings like "key frame, bit rate," ?
I rendered a 20 second file with all these settings (basic green blurred tree background) and at 20 seconds it still only made a 23.4 MB file which seems very low. And again, a 12 second clip comes at 100% quality comes out at a mere 15.5 MB. I was getting around 200-500MB from Magix
