My expirence and sales after one year in Pond 5

Silvestregarcia 26 Dec 2018 17:29
Hello everybody, I started to upload regular one year ago more or less (in octuber 2017) and now I have near of 2.000 videos... The sales have been very incostintent in my opinion, some periods of 2 or 3 months selling nothing and others months in wivh I sold 3 or 4 videos... I changed the price twice, one for down them, and after few months not selling I decided to put the prices similar of the other agencies...

https://www.pond5.com/es/artist/silvestregarcia#1/2063

I made the total this year of 537 € for 13 videos In the period of octuber to december 2017 I made: 232 € for 7 videos

I really apriciate if you look at my portfolio, and tell me if these numbers are normals, or maybe I will be change comething (keywords, descriptions, my artist page ¿?) Thanks a lot!

hi i see you have some nice videos i think keywords will help, as an example time lapse and time-lapse are 2 alternatives you use time lapse only, and i noticed on a Spanish time-lapse you have Egyptian keywords along with spanish , plus if your time lapse is a place use as an example cadiz time-lapse, cadiz time lapse....... etc etc, saturated market with millions of videos i am building up my portfolio and have a few sales this year from under 500 videos good luck and keep going . your pricing for 4k looks a little low to me, i will be going into 4k soon and 4k will be £199 my opinion of course

Not sure if they are "normal", I have cca 350 videos and last 3 months I sold 3 times for 100$. From my limited experience it pays off to think outside of the box. Right now I'm going mostly for cityscapes cause it's what I enjoy doing, I think some of them are really great but ironically those don't have nearly as many views/sales as some of my admittedly meh looking videos that just have an interesting subject.

Also I think you might be doing too many versions of the same thing, I would pick out maximum 3 versions of each video. My theory is that if you have too many videos of the same thing, you might get similar amount of views on all of them vs uploading just one, however because each clip will only have 1 view it will not be pushed to the front pages of certain search queries. At least that's how it seems to work on shutterstock, the more clicks you get the higher you go in the line of clips. Ideally you want to get to the front page for a search term.

Thanks for sharing guys, is interesting that you say. I will pay more attention to the keywords, I use the tool from microstockgroup that allow to put a lot of words clicking some similar images.

And, yes is a good idea to upload just some videos of the same thing, to concentrate the clicks and no spread in too much... How long did take for you to start to sell, I hear that in Pond you need a year or more (althought I have been from a year, I sold, but now nothing (from 3 months...)

Reagards!

It took me four months on Pond5 (and perhaps 500 uploaded videos) before I made a sale. All sales have been HD videos so far, despite the fact that 2/3s of my videos are 4K. (My first Pond5 sale was a 4K video that was bought as an HD.) Sales seem really slow here, but I have only 630 videos or so at this point.

For me from March (first uploads) till December 2015 for the first sale, with 170 clips uploaded. The last three years I had a sale per month as average. Very happy with this, if I think of how many clips are here :-) And last October I had my first 4k sale. Totally I have 38 sales of 28 different clips, with 670 videos at now.

It's a rollercoaster at times. If you love doing it, keep doing it. If you are trying to get rich, stop now haha.

I'm a 4 years as a Contributor, I have 1700 clips :) What can I say, sometimes sales are very good, like $250-350 per month, but sometimes $40
I have different topics, animals, nature, life, night club and many many others. Cats sell best :)

Started a year ago, didn't give up the day job, averaged a clip per month from the start. Sold 3 in November and 2 in December. 10.000 clips each day are uploaded on here alone, 12 million clips in all and they find mine and buy them, that alone gives me a buzz and I'm happy. Agree with dapoopta, if you love doing it keep doing it, otherwise you might get discouraged.

Somebody has put two of my clips in the basket, ooh I'm buzzing...good luck!
