Yikes. Is this "dive housing" essentially the same as the new flat Hero3 housing?
I've always been confused by that.
Also, regarding underwater, what thinkest thou of red filters? Have any experience with that? Are there colors/wavelengths/levels of clarity that would not be otherwise attainable? Is it depth-dependent?
I do understand the difference between using a physical filter on the lens and using "filter effects" in post, by the way, so that's now what I am asking.

Ya the dive housing for the HD2 is the same as the new flat HD3 housing. I would test it overnight in the tub or a lake without the camera in it.
I've not tried a filter for diving, or post, it may indeed help with clarity. I'll give it a try.

More bitching, and a good thing too:
So I'm making a little home movie for family, and using the GoPro is the easiest/most convenient (and fun) thing to use...
If in quiet environments, for instance, if showing persons walking down a packed snowy road in rural Alaska, the only sound being crunching footsteps and maybe a raven, the NOISE from the camera is simply hideous.
I'm not saying I expect HiFi, but jeez, my tiny stereo voice recorder sounds better...so now another complication...take the Zoom H4N so I can capture sounds - which is starting to eat into the convenient/fun aspect already....
I promised a good thing though.....I did a mask (black lines top and bottom) to simulate aspect ratio/cinematic look of anamorphic, and guess what? It actually looks pretty cool. It covers up some of the distortion in such a way as to make it not be distracting, and the overall "look" is pretty neat.
So that's fun. Can't do that for stock obviously, but I wonder if there is a way to render as anamorphic?

I see the problem now that you are having Mizamook. The pace is all wrong when using the GoPro. Look in the GoPro manual for "Walking Pace Requirements for Alaska". I think you will find that you are supposed to hop, skip, jump, then walk like a duck, then repeat. This will result in perfect sound. :)

He filmed at 30 fps and was walking 30 ppm (pace per minute). The harmonic of 30 causes the distortion and jello. Next time try walking at 29 ppm and I bet everything will look much better.

Must have been 2nd order harmonics since I was shooting at 60fps....

You were actually hitting the 3rd harmonic.. you must have had something in your pocket causing it to occur. Next time go without pants.

dang Scott we already saw you like that ... once in a lifetime is more than enough ;)
.
Just remember to walk in increments of 29.59, 59.59 ppm etc and everything should work well.

Love the sound of the harmonica.
Don't know what that and walking has to do with each other.
