James,
What are the file sizes of these clips from the camera and the final rendered file?

Thanks! I was worried that I'd have a hard time editing XAVC-S clips without Sony Vegas since I'm on a Mac. But Adobe CC seems to work just fine with it. And my i7 iMac has no problems playing it.
Edit:
Also, the Mac will natively play the camera's MP4 files in Quicktime, whereas on my work Windows 7 machine, it won't play outside of Adobe Premiere or AE.
So, that's a plus.

Yes, very nice clips. The sharpness of that frame grab is amazing.

The raw of that clip is 24 seconds. I shot it at 24fps, and the file size is 289 MB. After spending hours coming up with a recipe to export 3840 x 2160p at reasonable file sizes with acceptable quality, I think I got it worked out. My submitted 12-second clip (as seen on the previous page) is a 127 MB H.264 MP4 clip. And it looks very nice at full resolution. I tried exporting PJPEG, but at 4K, those files are HUGE. MP4 seems a better alternative, for now. But of course, P5 has yet to review it, so I don't know if it'll be accepted.

That camera seems like a one stop shop. Video from it looks great and you can also extract frames to submit as photos.
Ok, so the file size is about the same as the pocket camera. But obviously yours is 4K in size.

That clip was shot at 100 Mbps. I can go up to 150 Mbps, but only in 60fps mode. My thinking is that 100 Mbps at 24fps is better quality than 150 Mbps at 60fps since the available bandwidth is being spread out over fewer frames per second.
But, I could be wrong.

I was wondering why you wanted to shoot at 24fps.

I'm leaning very strongly the same direction. I was excited about the BMC 4K but the auto focus, tilt screen, etc, etc I believe a camera like this is a better choice.

"Better" is subjective. This Sony is better for me. But then again, I'm not shooting movies.
