What is "atti"??

Attitude mode. In this mode the gyros act only to keep the craft level. With zero input from your sticks it will float on the breeze. GPS is not active for position hold horizontally or vertically. Some flyaways are attributed to clueless pilots used to GPS mode only, then when GPS lock fails, they don't know how to control their bird. But without GPS active the craft flies smoother (minus the little corrective twitches inherent to GPS corrections, which make low slow shots difficult. If you fly in forest or canyons (sometimes cities?) GPS can go in and out, sometimes lost altogether. You need to know how to fly without it. The controls are the same, (if you are not using course lock or home lock) but you have to compensate more for winds than you might think. In GPS mode, the robot does all the compensating for you.

Thanks Linus!

The mavic has 'tripod' mode where motions are super smooth and not jerky. From what I've seen it looks like the gimble and control capabilities create some awesome footage. I am by no means a drone pro, so I'm looking at youtube videos like most of you and making assumptions.. SHIP MY DAMN MAVIC BHPHOTO!

When do they ship?
mjwolfe777 30 Oct 2016 02:22
The store in my town (which is a licensed DJI store) told me they are shipping from China as we speak - the first ones are arriving here in Colorado on Nov 2. Those are all preorders. Then the next shipment will be their stock for the store.

BUT ... will tripod mode allow for smooth MOVING shots close? That would be rad ... Inspire 1 and Typhoon H both very bad at that in GPS mode ... Matrix in ATT mode like a stealth dirigible smooth ...

B&H turns deaf ear ... HAHAHAHA

No, I want one too .... but I think I have to wait ... making saving for X5R for my Flightcam and Floatcam rigs first priority....sell more my clips P5!

I have been getting some AMAZING smooth shots in GPS mode with my Phantom 3. And I bought the Litchi app which lets you do "cable-cam" shots and the follow mode is better than the DJI Go version.

As with ANY tool, it's all about using it as much as possible and getting experience to overcome any perceived shortcomings.

I got to fly a Mavic yesterday a little bit and it's MUCH easier to fly than my Phantom 3. But the controls are more sensitive, so it's gonna take a LOT of practice to get it super smooth. Definitely gonna get one after the shipping issues calm down.

I'm talking low and slow ... as in inches above the surface ... and as slow as the bird will fly. Not impossible with GPS, but very difficult ... every GPS twitch shows up. I seldom have use for curve cable cam stuff ... the Typhoon has that as I don't know what route I will be flying until I am there, wherever there is ...

But I AM interested in Litchi ... I see they've updated for the Z3 cam ... currently building an aquatic "FloatCam" for use with Z3 and X5R ... I find it beyond silly and redundant that I cannot use the sticks on my DJI controller to control this boat, (and have to use different radio for thruster control) and in other modes of the DJI rig (FlightCam), I cannot use the sticks on the controller to control the camera. Does Litchi allow user with single remote to control the camera with the sticks?

Im hearing rumor the Mavics are now delayed 7-8 more weeks - I read it online - so it MUST be true. Anyone else hear this?
