Marbury forget that 99 cent crap and round out your prices to the whole dollar.

Yes, pond5 said that it puts buyers off

I see some of you have files priced high. Much higher than a lot on here selling for $10. Surely that puts buyers off ?

Sure it will put off the low-budget buyer, who they are not my buyer.

Sometimes I believe you say things that you already know the answer just to get those who are trying to help you excited. You already know that ten dollars footage does not make money. There has not been a single P5 artist that has spoken up saying they make over $2,000 a month on $10 clips. There are dozens and hundreds that do that well and many much better on $50 and up clips. Go to artist resources and easy to decide. The average price of HD is over $64 each. There are huge numbers of clips selling for well over $100. Heck $100 clips seldom even make the list on the weekly and monthly best money makers. Sell for ten dollars and you still won't gain any bragging rights on number sold. You decide, pay for your new camera, computer, bandwidth and new hard drives and price accordingly. There is a perception of quality, Ten to thirty is cheap perception.$50 does not put buyers off. I just sold a clip for $550 that sells here for $50, and a couple more last week for over $300. Why, because of customer service. They stated that their high priced premium service is growing at about 30% a year. My daughter last fall sold 15 clips for $30,000 to a marketing agency.

Look at the industry on HD pricing. SS is $79, IS is over $150, CC averages over $60, Revo the owner a while back suggested to sellers to raise their pricing to above $60. The industry is far higher that $10 and even $50. P5 is the only real player in the footage industry that allows HD such low prices. Again, tell us about someone making good money at $10-20. Tell us about those making good money at $50 plus and better get a big piece of paper.

SO as you learn I would not recommend pricing at $300. Unless you shoot one-of-a-kind maybe $50 is a good starting point. Many will argue that that is too low. These are great P5 artists that are indeed making a living selling footage. So do you believe in those who are making a living shooting or those who are strictly hobbyist and not even paying their expenses.

The best selling clips here sold 100 times at $50-60. Do you think yours will beat them by offering $10 or 20? Do you want to pay back your Sony RX10 and computer, software and time. May be you should consider selling your camera right now because you will never make the money back by selling footage here. :)

I was only pointing out an observation that people selling well below the decent prices may be harming sales for higher priced artists.

I think that you research the genre of each clip and price your clip accordingly. Whether that's $10 or $100. Each genre is different and people who don't do research are the ones who rarely sell.

And I think bitching about what other people price their clips is a waste of energy and is taking time away from producing more and better content. The people who are top sellers aren't whining, they're producing.
