MJPEG-B not accepted codec any more?

Also, was wondering. Can a .MOV packaged h264 be created in 422, and would it be compatible to normal video players?

Upon thinking through what will be my new workflow, I just want to revise what I said a few posts above about there being "some quality loss during re-compression" from ProRes to H264.

If I were to edit my footage in Final Cut (ProRes) and export my clips in ProRes, then Pond5 making an H264 from that clip should look no different than my exporting an H264 from my ProRes timeline (I think). In fact, if Pond5 has a better ($) encoder than mine, then their H264 might be better (I think).

However, I'm not sure about a motion-jpeg to ProRes conversion.

ProRes Codec tip: I edit my Pond5 clips in Avid (AVC-intra codec), which has been less buggy than FCP with my avchd footage. I realized that Avid doesn't have the ProRes encoder, but I was able to copy the ProRes codecs from my Final Cut system over to my Avid system (the codecs are in one the Mac's Libraries/QuickTime folders), so I now can export ProRes from Avid.

Once you have the ProRes codec in your computer, it will also appear in MPEG StreamClip as an option, and any other encoder on your system (supposedly).

Problem is yes ProRes is available in the windows system but not integrated to allow cropping, color and level adjusting them encoding within the same program. Streamclip is ok but lacks true ability to work with he footage.
