mpeg streamclip help

I'm using mpeg streamclip to create .mov video clips and I keep getting an error message when trying to convert. If I try to convert raw footage (.mts) I get the error "file open error, unrecognized file type". Or if I try to convert from another format (such as .mp4) I'm getting the error of "error, can't prepare the movie". I'm pretty sure I have the latest Quicktime player since I have the most recent iTunes update which also updates Quicktime. Any suggestions?

The thing with Streamclip is I think you have to download the free Quicktime alternative 1.81 for it to work correctly. Its a free download. It should solve the problem. The regular Quicktime doesn't work with it, at least not for me.

It doesn't support .mts

I downloaded the Quicktime alternative but am still having the same error message. Please tell me if I'm doing the process right-I go under 'File', 'Open Files', select the video clip. Then I go under 'Export to Quicktime', make no other changes, and hit 'Make Movie'. This is when I'm getting the error coming up "can't prepare the movie" and creates a blank 0 bytes file in my video folder.

I think Sony Movie Studio Platinum handles .mts files and saves into mov. photojpeg. Download the 30 trial version.

Sorry I should have mentioned, I'm only trying .mp4 files now. Thanks for the tip cinecameratv, I'll try that.

Many things are hidden in Sony Movie Studio Platinum. You have to search and keep searching in the render options until you find photojpeg.
