Background Plate sales

Does anyone have experience with the requirements for this niche - ie background for green screen etc.? Are there certain requirements. Is this a viable market?

I'd suggest "yes" about it being viable. Hell, anything (but maybe not fractal abstracts so much, OK?) is viable for stock if you have the interest and time/ability to figure it out. Having variety in portfolio is key to suffer the ups and downs a lot better. Plus you learn stuff. Sell your experiments.

Thanks Miz - Not a lot of sales yet but I just broke 2000 uploads last week and try to do 6 a day average. Not a lot of sales yet but at least they are higher priced. Think I will give some plates a shot. Damn - I was just going to do some fractal abstracts! ;-)). And price them at .99!

I have been dabbling into it as of late. I started making fractal backgrounds and have since taught myself some slick cool things to do with masking but, seems colors are the way to go as I show it in my latest earnings video. It was from Adobe though. They are geared more towards commercial. Here is the video where I show it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tenjxDIW6LU&t=231s
I can see making backgrounds for a solid month just to see what happens. The masking and key framing give unlimited outcomes pretty much so it is unlikely you will cross over someone. I can see using just keyframes now you may start creating something that has been done. I throw as many effects at it as my machine can handle now.
and I agree with the variety.

Crazy thing is I pay for After effects and don't use it to make backgrounds, ehh.. time my friends, time, with such a limited amount I tend to gravitate towards what I know how to use.
