Selling sound FX - noob after pointers and tips.

Hi.

I'm new to pond5 but not new to creating sounds.

Can anyone give me any pointers? I'm currently making a batch of 10 sounds weekly and uploading them, they are decent quality but currently getting very few views. I'm tagging them all etc, but if there's any admin things I'm doing badly or wrong i'd be very grateful for tips.

I'm assuming it's a numbers game and I need to just keep chipping away at creating sounds then when I have several hundred up I may get a trickle of sales.

Any pointers?

First let me say I don't create sound fx only video and photos.
But selling stock anything is the same for anything you may do.
First, yes its a numbers game.
BUT its a quality game too. So you need both.
If you just go to the sound FX category you'll see there are almost 2 million but if I search for one of your names by epic trailer impact It goes to about 2000
Still a lot so at that point your's has to be better than the others which is where the quality comes in.
Keywords are another way of gaining sales.

One final note and I never like to get on the pricing bandwagon but with the current state of stock I have to mention that your $2 price is a bit low when you'll almost never get a $2 sale with all the discounts and price reductions that are given out like halloween candy.
That last part is across the board on any site you sell from it seems. Not just here.

@ARCNoise hey I record and sell SFX on P5 and sadly have seen a decrease in sales, plus as JHDT has said they give out discounts here like Halloween Candy, that's for sure and that in my opin is bad for us, one because we do not have a choice if we want our products discounted, and two unlike Ebay and others that run discounts and eat the discount this discount is taken from what we would have made which is extremely unfair to the artist as without us places such as this wouldn't even exist.

So for example I had sold something that was like $12 and my cut from that sale was less then $2 why? because some discount code was used that sucked my profit dry. If they want to run discounts I understand but what im not cool with is that the discount is taken from our cut that is a crazy unfair practice that they really should stop as it is SFX only get 35% cut and then they take out additional because someone used a discount code.

So sadly when I used to sell a lot more and get a 50% cut now who know what ya get if they use a discount. And mind you I do not have a million things for sale but I do have SFX that seem to sell better before all these changes were made.

So from my experience it seems very difficult now to make any real income, I just keep at it to see if it will get better and I do quite enjoy recording and sound design, but I am not so sure if it will pick up as times are a changing, what with all the subscription nonsense I have yet to see anything from that. Good luck I hope you start to see more sales. I hope we all do. I would def take the time to make sure you have good relevant key-words which can help.

I would like to add that there was no communication sent to me at least about subscriptions. Example $9.50 retail sound a profit of $0.18 under pond5's subscription plan. I do not see a way to opt out as of yet. However, as you would understand this devalues their entire platform and more directly my sounds and the industry.
