Reduced to move!!

I've always been against exclusive or the old put all your eggs in one basket idea.
You say it pays but you're reducing your pricing because of the lack of sales?
I'll agree that sales on Pond5 has dropped but at the same time sales on other sites I'm on has increased.
That's the way it always has been.
So you do what is best for your business, I'll do the same.

My sales have never been great on pond5, luckily the pod sites have been great enough for myself to be full time since 2017, with recession in the Uk and world turmoil I wondered what would happen this Christmas, after a low start sales are banging through and I will smash last years sales, each to their own but lowering prices isn’t something I would do, recently pond5 was offering 25% off of purchases, lowering prices just to get sales creates a chain effect and the race to the bottom is fast, when pond 5 started allowing other stock sites on with hundreds of thousands or even millions of videoes that is the cause of poor sales, if a production company wants a video they will pay for it, I thought my image sales on the pod sites would be a disaster but their is plenty of money out there… good luck

great points David. I think I am having a knee jerk reaction but I will bump back up after the holidays. You gave me something to think about, thanks for sharing. I want to see if I get more sales or the same.. if the same I am def bumping prices back up. You are correct about one thing, if they want it, what they pay is more than likely peanuts to them but a nice stack for me.

With tens of millions of clips, price is not the deciding factor. Producers will pay for what they need. Most Artists portfolios where they complain of low sales is because they are normal, ho-hum, snap shots or a few hundred or even a few thousand that are lost in the millions. Lower pricing for individuals does not make up for fair prices. Agencies who have tens of millions can offer sales and price cuts. Bottom-line pay at the end of each month is all the counts, not the number of items sold.

Big question on not having sales is: Are my clips standout from the rest? Is the subject what is needed in movies, news, commercials or just snapshots? What makes my footage stand out among the tens of millions already for selling? It is not the difference of $39 to $59 to $79 for HD, all price points will sell the same. Maybe the $79 HD sells best due to perception of quality ...

My prices haven’t changed for years.
But actually I just increased prices of my new videos.

Perhaps in more widespread use than realized. Maybe one reason that could account for low sale prices.

SO many here in USA and Europe use VPN. SO by doing that they get lower prices plus 25% discount. P5 would be more fair to Artists to set minimum at SS and Adobe prices to start. Industry standard. Before discounts. This would stop race to bottom. Since we really don't have control over our pricing like P5 was established.

When P5 started and for many years, Artist set their prices. Any agency discount came completely out of the agency since they discounted against the Artists desired selling price. Now we have VPN prices, foreign country prices and unlimited discounts. AND, agency competition has all but been eliminated as P5 and SS are one company.

In answer to the VPN yes it can be stopped, I worked in the sports betting industry in England and most world country’s have rules about sports betting and you can not place a bet abroad without using a vpn, now betting company’s are blocking accounts using a vpn, mainly because it causes problems with foreign governments and tricky better can place a large bet abroad if it loses they demand a refund on the basis it was placed abroad, so yes pond5 should be able to detect a vpn the same as a gambling company
