Autotag from Quicktime Annotations... PLEASE!!!

mountain 4 Dec 2008 18:59
Are there any plans to auto-import keywords, etc. from
QuickTime annotations?

That would make things super easy, especially for those
using Final Cut Server who can import, backup, convert, upload,
and tag all in one action.

Thanks.

Well, that would be the best thing ever!
Is anyone doing that? I haven't heard of any.

It would have to be done on the Pond5 server side.

Whatever software imports our uploads and prepares them
imports the filename only... so maybe it can be modified to
look a little deeper and get the keywords, etc??

Pretty please!

I know many photo sites that do this and its a god send, just keyword once and presto all you have to do is select your catagories and submit.

Would love to see it on the footage side as well.

Premiere CS4 uses XMP that does the same thing. This should be included too in a future site upgrade.

I doubt this will happen soon as it is once again a standards war.
mountain 9 Dec 2008 17:22
It does not need to be a war. Personally I would gladly encode and submit to whatever format that will carry the metadata to Pond5.
vadervideo 9 Dec 2008 19:36
No, a war between codec standards. It is only possible to embed data of this nature in the wrapper of the codec itself. Hence since there are so many codecs and people behind them it is going to be a tough standard to follow for all. AVI has little or no room, QT is Apple and Apple thinks it owns the world of video, then there are several other and also well known companies that own mpg's etc.. so it will be a while before we see anyone jump on any bandwagon.

I don't think it's all that hard.

How about an option for uploading MOV+xml or AVI+xmp or file+txt, etc. etc?

We could then use ftp or http to upload acceptable video file with accompanying metadata.
Pond5 could supply templates of commonly accepted metadata database formats to avoid errors.

That should solve the bandwagon issue.
