4K Question

A 5D MK IV with 4K at $3500 would be a no brainer buy for me. Maybe even at $3999 I doubt I would hesitate for a minute.

It will be something like a 4K Cinema EOS C400/C200 and of course with a crappy codec and viewfinder ;-)
By now I know Canon strategy very good don't even think that they will implement 10-12 bit 4:2:2. Maybe 8 bit 4:2:0 is what we get from them.

Here's an article by a fellow contributor on the subject of 4K cameras.

Always good to hear different perspectives although this article seems more relevant to assignments than the realities of stock.

<<<<However, the truth is that in order to get that camera to play(4K) nicely on an actual shoot it has to be outfitted with external batteries, audio adapters, and other accessories. So the cost is more than $4k. (The same can be said of DSLRs).>>>

Not any more --- enter the grand (but diminutive) GH4 ;-) --- writes 4K directly to its SD card.

At this stage I'm more after 4K for introducing Ken Burns effects and downscaling to 1080 than thinking 4K is what most buyers want/need.
