Never understand the sales data!

Usually i don't check it because it's really no reference for anything what happens or may happen.
Not long ago i had a sale without views, and again i see a cart add, but no view for the clip.
So what is the sense of the listings "Views" and "Cart Adds"?

I'd like to know it too but here's what I've always assumed in an effort to find some logic to the stats:

A view is when, in a page with multiple items, someone clicks on one particular item and opens that item's page.
You can add an item to the cart or to a collection without opening its page, that would explain sales with no views (they just previewed the item and clicked 'add to cart' or 'add to your collection').

Again, I'm just guessing. I also think stats just stop working correctly sometimes.

If you mean the mouseover preview, the quality is much bader than the preview on the item's page, and there are also no additional infos. Can't imagine that a buyer will buy a clip without opening the item's page, but for first pre-choice cart adds this may be possible and explains why some or several cart adds never becomes a sale.
