Stock footage / photo website with free download option?

Hello all,

I would like to set up an account somewhere where I can upload videos where you have the option to make them downloadable free of charge. This is just something for fun that I want to set up for a community. I want to help some people out and share clips with each other for our projects and I figured this would be the best way to go about it. Clips would be unrelated to what I do here on Pond5. Youtube is not an option for various reasons nor is Vimeo. Looking specifically for stock footage sites that you can both sell and allow free downloads. Thanks!

This is a business agency where we come to "make money". Most is not all here would never support an agency that allows free downloads as a regular part of their business. The one file a week is kinda normal but beyond that most of us hope the free agencies all go out of business as soon as possible. We have fun here selling. Good luck on selling here.

Rekindle Photo,
I'm not talking about an agency that sets everything as free. I'm talking about an option to set your own clips for free as you see fit. And the type of content I'm interested in uploading for free is very esoteric so i'm sure it would not threaten your clip sales nor anyone else's : ) But I understand, your fear is well grounded.

Here at P5 you can list as many clips as you want as free. The same option is at most agencies. These agencies only normally offer one a week because they realize giving clips away does not increase sales. They are in business to make sales and do it as a last ditch marketing attempt.

Gotcha. I think i'll have to weigh some other options.

@CM40 - you can build your own website for such a venue. You will realize very quickly that it gets expensive very quickly due to bandwidth usage. As a website owner, you will pay for excessive bandwidth usage (downloading from your site). It would not be feasible in any case.

Upload them to Vimeo which is free and in the "settings" allow them to be downloaded.

yeah i was thinking about doing vimeo but i believe they limit the number of uploads.
Vadervideo i wouldn't be able to take on such an endeavor :)

Yes, you are correct. 500MB and 1 HD video upload per week. The plus account that I have allows 5 GB/week and number of uploads unlimited as long as the 5 GB/week is not exceeded.

There are option to have freebie in the net. You need to ask the owner (Youtube, etc) for free usage. No need to make it in a commercial website like P5. We are here for selling and make a living from our works.
