Crazy Pricing allowed by P5

I've seen some absurd pricing of videos/photos that do NOT contain a decimal point in them. Why do the people who preview footage before uploading approve these? It's ridiculous to say the least, and should be corrected. Or they should be flagged.

P5 people didn't have any problem correcting my prices when they were too low!!

Your message is a bit cryptic. Are the prices you refer to, too high or too low, in your opinion?

Launa P5 prefers artist price their work in whole numbers rather than in decimals as it makes book keeping easier. Now doesn't that make sense??
mainstreammusic 28 Dec 2014 14:21
zanyzeus: prices that say 1000000, or 999999, seems odd to me.
jason: as I mentioned above, other pricing might say $10 or $29.99 check and see

Jason: yes it makes sense to use the ease of whole numbers, but many here do not, and show a decimal (ex: $29.99)
thanks for your input on this

The most "expensive" clip is priced at $90M. There are 3M clips online; It causes the price of 64.62 at "Artists Resources" to be biased by $30 (90M/3M=30).
So, the average price shows $30 more just because of this one clip. The actual price of HD clips online is probably $0, if you weigh the value of the rest of the highly priced clips.

Is that right, Vader? You have a very "expensive" clip?

The artist resource price of $64.62 has not changed in years. The data is not much good for anything. If someone prices their product at $99999 it hurts no one but their own sales opportunity. I can't think of any company that prices products without decimals. Walmart, Costco, Amazon, gas stations, even your neighborhood convenience store all price at $59.99 formats. It may have affected bookkeeping back in the days of abacus and stone tablets but now it makes no difference. Yes, I know P5 gave us all a deadline last year and it passed a long time ago with no change ... since it made no sense. Worrying about using decimals when curation is over a month and downsizing promised a couple years ago has not happened is silly.

Especially for other artists it does not affect them in the least as to how other artists use .99. It does affect if low balling prices but makes no difference on higher prices.

I would like to clarify that I was not criticizing P5 for the decimal point issue....and I am aware that artists are allowed to set their own prices....my comment was about how some artists are putting $1000000 prices on their work, which only hurts themselves, and (in my opinion) makes this site look, well.....not to be taken seriously?
Jason: I am a video & music artist here......although I have not uploaded any of my music here. This is a great site for artists to sell their work, and I have recommended P5 to alot of fellow workers. Curation times need to be inproved though. Otherwise I love it here!!! Also, there are many who still use decimals here in their pricing. No one seems to make those indiviguals change their prices, yet P5 changed my prices for me......just sayin' :-)

Cryptic? guess I don't understand your comment here. I think a price of $99999999 looks ridiculous, and makes the artist look like a joke and demeans the value of this site......just an abservation, and opinion. No one has to agree with me.
