Preliminary finding is that it works, recent info from the main guy indicates a soon (in next week) update to give support to Cineform, Grass Valley codecs.
Noticed that on my new laptop it installed ProRes.
On my desktop it referred to the installation of Miraizon, but on my laptop there is no ProRes until now.
Initial tests indicate detail level same, (rendering uncompressed AVI to ProRes HQ) BUT there is a gamma shift - the rendered files (both HD and 4K) are darker slightly.
There is a settings page that has a lot of stuff I don't understand (yet).
Further info to follow once I grok this better. I suspect that given what I've seen, there is a way to make my input/output a near 1:1 ratio.
Looking good. I think.
Hopeful workflow:
Source=h.264 footage (GoPro or Inspire1 "4K")
Import into Footage Studio
Set In/Out points of the good bits
Export as Uncompressed AVI or ProRes 4444 (temp files to be deleted to save space, saving original footage optional)
Import Uncompressed AVI or 4444 into AE. Process as necessary
Export from AE - Uncompressed (temp files to be deleted to save space, saving original footage optional)
Import color corrected, stabilized clip into Footage Studio
Export to ProRes 422 or HQ for delivery.
Sell lots.
+++++++++++++++++++++++
Source=RAW Stills sequence (DSLR, RX100m3, FS700 RAW DNG)
Import RAW stills to AE, process as full resolution video, no FX or alterations other than RAW import xml.
Export from AE - Uncompressed (temp files to be deleted to save space, saving original footage optional)
Import back into AE, process, clean, color, noise, etc. Render to Uncompressed.
Import color corrected, stabilized clip into Footage Studio
Export to ProRes 422 or HQ for delivery.
Sell lots.
+++++++++++++++++++++++
Source=AVCHD, ProRes, or .mp4 from AX100, etc.
Import to Vegas Pro, select regions, export as uncompressed, minor color work if necessary.
Import to AE (if necessary, other wise skip to end, if necessary, otherwise export as PJPEG)
Sell lots.

Am I insane? Am I doing it wrong? Have you read all this? If so, you either are insane, or just hoping to prove I'm doing it wrong.
If I am doing it wrong, please advise.
Out,
Gene
