What kind of referral fee to ask for?

I've got a couple of requests from clients looking to shoot webvideos. I want to refer the jobs to a local video outfit I've just started working with (they've got multiple cams - small crew - editing & graphics skills).

any thoughts on how much i should charge for sending new business someone's way? I was thinking 10% of the total job invoice - does that sound about right?

any! help is appreciated.

that's what I'd ask for.

28-30% - that's the standard commission rate of a commissioned sales person.

As a freelance videographer finding the market as tough now as it's ever been anything more than 10% (which will clearly have to go onto the end clients bill) will most likely make a project over-bloated on price.

Whatever you do for your livelihood (anyone who answers this question) contemplate what adding 30% to your prices would do - would that make you or your products too expensive - in which case it'll be the same for the outfit employing several in their small crew and who have invested in multiple cameras.

The video industry is not the pot of gold some think it is.
