Simplify!

I am noticing on a number of other web sites (where I sell more) they requires MUCH LESS information on submitted clips.

It's time for Pond5 to re-look at the submission form and greatly simply the process.

In my opinion, VideoBlocks is nearly perfect. They have Title, Tags and Release. Shutterstock is a close second with Title, Tags, Categories, Editorial Designation and Release.

As a buyer, I use the search to find what I need. I don't look at the camera info or anything else spurious... I care about the content of the clip and the resolution.

Yes please. Especially since the camera info cannot even be seen. Why put?

Title.
Tags.
Release.

Done.

All else is fluff, and not the good warm fuzzy kind.

What do you think about the description? I think it's helpful for searching machines, because it comes out in the page code and can also explain details to the customer.
And I whish also that on the main upload page (not on the clip edit page) there are both price settings, for 4k and hd, because if you now change the price for a 4k clip on the main page, it sets the hd price automatically to the half price.

The description now appears to be a vestigial organ, much like the appendix - left over from the early development of Pond5. No idea if filling it in is worth anything as the buyer searching doesn't see it. Question is, does it effect the search results? I just paste the title into it and move on.

I dunno....from what I've been reading about SEO and I pulled TWO all-nighters this past week on it, every word is a potentially a keyword no matter what place it's in. I did that too, copy and paste title into description box but now what I do is edit that description a little bit just to add a couple more keywords that I want to rank for.

With sales this bad.....have to really get serious.

Description in most cases will hurt SEO, not help. Google is not a fan of repeated keywords.

Also, let's me honest here. Very few buyers these days are using Google or web search engines to find stock footage. They have their favorites sites they search through... as a buyer I have my favorite 3 that I search when I need to buy stock footage. I don't use a web search engine because they do a poor job.

Pond5 is showing it's age... What used to be a friendly submission page has become cluttered and it's a much longer process to submit here than elsewhere. Even with the 6 week delay in getting anything approved.

Honestly, with that delay plus the fact that Pond5 rejects fresh 4k footage in favor of old SD/HD that has never sold and I'm close to taking Pond5 off my "buy" list.
