As I read the MicrostockDiaries blog about iSyndica, I noted that it said it wouldn't upload to iStockphoto. I'm a video contributor there and that's a big disadvantage. Is this still the case?

lol Nice Don, putting your aff link in the code :P

I gotta say Don normally if I saw that kind of pitch and an aff link I would immediately disregard the message.

But I guess this is a really good idea. I might use isyndica later.

I just hope people dont start using the p5 forums for advertising.

I'm not a member or subscriber of it. Just tried their trial version and just pasted the link. Just an idea of a way to use it. I'll try to spend a little time this next week and give an evaluation of what I found good and bad. Since P5 has signed up with them to use it I thought it might be an advantage to other P5 artists.

My immediate feeling is the permanent storage is far too small for video users. Photo users it's ok. By the time video users pay for the needed extra storage it might get too expensive. Also if using it to transfer to five agencies it will cost .50 cents for each video transferred (five transfers, one per agency). This is in additional to the membership although the membership does give an intial credit to cover some of these transfers. If any of the syndicated agencies have problems then the videos will not transfer to them. It will take a lot of double checking to ensure the transfers work. I also had several footage files that they said were corrupted, I know the files are good cause all of them are here at P5 already.

So for now, it's a toss up on video if it's good or bad. For photo I think it's a great idea. Ten credits per transfer is too much relative to photo or audio costs. More to come. I'm not ready to give them a thumbs up or down yet. Leaning to thumbs up now.

the introductions to syndica say up to 2tb of storage but the purchase screen shows 20gb & 50 gb. Where is the 2tb?

Any site which supports FTP uploads can be used by iSyndica. While IS doesn't "directly support" iStock in their quick setup, you can easily add it as an FTP site (which is what I did).

2TB is a new option that you pay for.

Right now with their current pricing, it costs 10 cents per clip per site uploaded. So 1 clip uploaded to 10 sites costs $1. With the number of sites I now upload to, PLUS the volume of clips I'm now producing each month this is well worth it to me personally.

And, I am absolutely addicted to their analytics. :)

Isyndica is closing down now, I tried it but the only videos which I have ever sold were on pond5.

To revive this thread I am a former user of Isyndica, still miss them. I am using now picworflow to distribute to several footage agencies, it is working quite well and price is reasonable. You can give it at try at http://picWorkflow.com?by=207

It lacks a lot of the features of iSyndica and is aimed at still photographers and priced for them. No simple pie charts of what sells and where, but a more detailed breakdown which doesn't seem to function for most video sites. Also, I do find the pricing adds up, although it's not unreasonable. It does make you think twice if you're uploading vast amounts. It's good to be selective and keep your files small. I stopped using it, but may again for limited uploads on a file by file site by site basis There is no support for exporting tags - which, although limited on iSyndica, functioned for some sites. I stored my entire portfolio on iSyndica and was perturbed when it went down. You could store your portfolio on PicWorkFlo, but it would be cost prohibitive from what I eyeball. So the function of storing and selectively exporting your entire portfolio to new sites isn't so appealing there - like it was on iSyndica. The social media branded low res export is also gone. Enough of the functions beside the actual distribution are gone so only it's an option for selective use - for me. The owner is a great, knowledge-able guy, savvy in the stock photo world and always responds promptly to any email.
