Why do artists blindly copy keywords?

Why is that P5 does not review keywords for Spam or accuracy when they review for quality? Why are artists continuously allowed to blindly copy other artists information as far as keywords and descriptions?

How hard is it to keyword? Heck there are a couple very good keyword sites that make it easy. Even without them keywording is part of the business, a very important part of the business ... every bit as important as pushing a shutter button.

So now we have an artist who has been around for a while. Has over 640 footage online yet he copies keywords from others footage blindly. Yes he has numerous clips that includes my first name, last name, my P5 business name and even my professional photography business name. Many of these footage were approved last month.

Worst part is he is selling 1920x1080 HD from 5D for $5! Come-on P5 please enforce the rules on keywords and pricing. This is the kind of things that will destroy the industry.

That is crazy! Almost the same as plagiarism (might even be considered that), you type\compose the words in a certain order, place your name in as a copyright owner, they should carry some protection for the work you are doing.

I found him pretty easy with what you listed, maybe he was just trying to save some time and did not realize this? I hate making a new template, but I have never copied the work of others. Good point, maybe the button needs to be taken away for everyone but the artist who owns it, in editing mode.

You have quite a collection sir! A lot of hard work for sure.

Just an update. I have been in contact with the other artist. I'm not giving who it is, no need to do that. He thinks it is a problem with the P5 keyword system. It could be partially that. I've seen dozens of footage with keywords that were not input by the artist. Since the change over several months ago there has been nothing but trouble with keyword spam. Anyway P5 really need to review this issue of keyword problems and spam and make it a big priority.

We are friends now that the issues are being cleared up.

But come-on guys, $5 or $10 HD footage will only kill the industry and it will not increase the number of sales. Buyers understand that also.

Thanks for the response by the artist, that is a good way to work to make things better.

There are agencies that prohibit and will remove submitters that use others keywords or description. An example is a very highly regarded and successful agency, Alamy. Here's what they think of the problem:
.
4.10 You will ensure that all captions, keywording, descriptions and Pseudonyms, rights management or other information pertaining to the Images are and will remain accurate and do not infringe the copyright or other rights of any third party, and are not defamatory or pornographic.
4.11 None of the keywords supplied by you for any Image has been copied from the keywords for an Image of any other Contributor. Alamy reserves the right to delete any group of keywords which in Alamy’s opinion contain copies of another Contributor’s keywords.

It doesn't even have to be an exact copy.

Just joking...
