suggestions for mencoder options?

I have rendered an animation using Blender under Linux. I rendered it as a targa sequence and I normally use the following command to turn it into a video:
mencoder "mf://*.tga" -mf fps=30 -o output.mov -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4
but of course this creates an mpeg4 file. Does anyone know if vcodec=mjpeg is the right codec to use for uploading to pond5? Is there a better choice, or any other options I should set?

See if that makes sense to you. I have never used blender... but he mentions :
This is a quicktime that is compressed with photojpeg with OpenQuicktime.
btw. how hard is blender to use?
