Is A.I. scanning my clips without paying?

Webevision 4 Sep 2023 21:22
Hi, I've had someone or thing look through my entire 800 or so clips over the last 48hrs. This seems extrodinary, even for a human.

So my questions is does Pond5 allow A.I. bot to scan your footage without paying for it?

Cheers

Phil

New to the site but how can you tell someone looked over your collection? Also, I dunno if POND5 or anything can stop an AI scanner from looking through the website.

Update. This from support, who were great by the way, although the upshot is I would advise people to opt out of dataset, details below.

'We cannot be 100% sure, but this looks like it might be due to our dataset earnings programme.
We are always looking for opportunities to maximize the value of your content through new channels and partnerships.

Datasets are a new product offering intended to do just that. You may see earnings noted as Dataset Earnings in the Financials section of your dashboard. We’ve developed this new offering to support companies building computer vision and Large Language Models (LLM). Datasets are content and metadata organized by a specific theme or topic that can include images (including photos, illustrations, and vectors), videos, music, sound effects, and 3D models. Customers license various metadata, including keywords, titles, and descriptions, for example.'

So, from my experience I've had several of these huge batch file scans and only one payout of around $40, which ain't great. The good news is you can opt out of this 'Dataset' thing by going to your account preferences and un-ticking 'make my content available for dataset'. It will be interesting to see if that works.

I opted out of the dataset and still receive several thousand views instead of under 10 a day

I think these random large amount of views from time to time are due to search engine bots scanning the database. Pond5 usually does a good job of keeping the search bots from counting as a human views, but every few months it seems one gets passed their filter system.

Just wanted to add that I had my collection "scanned" as well between September 1st and 3rd after looking at my item views for those day.
singletrack500m572 13 Sep 2023 11:05
All of last month (August) I had 57 "Item Page Views" and 134 "Artist Page Views". Up to the middle of this month I've had 1447 and 63. No sales and I have no idea what the difference in the numbers from month to month mean

And I opted out of the dataset long ago

ChowcolateProductions, look for STATISTIC on you dashboard page, far right corner header.

I would be surprised if Pond5 content was not scraped from head to toe for AI learning.

Unfortunately, I think stock footage is going the way of the VHS. That is to say the Dinosaur.
