Prices not as set

RekindlePhoto 23 Oct 2023 03:25
Yes I know, been here since P5 started, one of the first dozen Artists. We used to set prices and all discounts came out of P5 side. Then after years we shared in discounts. Now we all know discounts are normal and big discounts have become standard even thought P5 and SS are same company and most of competition is now gone.

Question now is why if I set a 4K price with percentage down for HD the 4K price, the price I set is NOT what is shown? I know it will be discounted but the huge discount on what is shown plus the additional discount is a huge cut. Do we no longer have the ability to set our own 4K price before P5 discounts?

Just checked a random few of mine .. looks fine here .. or do I need to sign out?

Are you seeing this on all clips or just a few?

When I had P5 staff re-index some of mine to make them reappear, the HD prices were some other price than set, until I put them back. But it was only on those clips.

Rekindle: Are you sure you set in the correct currency? I generally do NOT offer smaller size at lower price; ie I set them at all sizes same price. My reasoning is that whether 4k or HD they took the same effort and are worth the same. And, as we know most user do not need or use 4k. I shoot in 4k but usually deliver to the client in 1080, or it goes on the web. I think some of use also feel that clips shot in 4k still look better at 1080 than a NORMAL HD clip. But i bow to your longevity with P5.

I find the way prices display so confusing.

My very first clips, I left at the default price, $50. They all displayed as HD/$25, 4k/$27. (Only $27?!) But when someone bought the 4k Individual License, it said in the financials tab, that they paid the list price of $50.

Setting prices higher shows this:

Price set to $60, displays HD/$29, and 4K/$42.
Price set to $90, displays HD/$49, and 4K/$62.
Price set to $100, displays HD/$49, and 4K/$85.

I don't get it, my best guess would be that there are cheaper 4k licenses than Individual, and they advertise those prices on the pages. Although the page says "Individual license included." So I wonder if it's a display glitch??

Here is one of MANY examples. Item 253540269 of mine. My edit page shows $169 for 4K yet when I do a search outside my edit page (like a buyer) it shows $139.

That is just not right! We set the price and then P5 sells for whatever is how it's been. Not P5 adjusting the base price.

P5 any idea on why this is happening to MANY footage clips?

I queried why I hadn't received the expected price and here's the answer I received:

"...After taking a look at the sale with my manager, I can see this was a bulk purchase that was paid using credit pack credits.

Essentially when buyers purchase credits, they receive credits, as well as bonus credits. For example, a user purchases $500 worth of credits and will receive $65 in bonus credits. These bonus credits are essentially promo credits we give buyers for purchasing in bulk amounts which will apply to purchases as a promo (like if a user were to enter a discount code at checkout). This $65 worth of bonus credits will be distributed between each clip and will discount every clip in the transaction equally until the bonus credit runs out. (https://www.pond5.com/credit-packages)

Net License Revenue represents the sum of the fees received adjusted for any discounts, less any Legal Guarantee fees. Please know you have still received 60% of the sale after NLR.

In accordance with our Contributor Agreement (https://www.pond5.com/legal/contributor)3. Pricing and Your Share of Net License Revenue, discounts are fairly shared between Pond5 and our contributors.

To open the door to new opportunities and sales, we occasionally need to offer limited discounts to customers. Offering this rare incentive allows your work to be marketed and exposed to more buyers, enabling more income for you – and for your revenue to reach its full potential..."

Confused - yep.

I am really cheesed off with this. I just sold a 1080P shot. The price is listed as £109 NB POUNDS STERLING.

My royalty on the sale is just $12.88

P5 have all my prices changed without any explanation, even after emailing the support. ALL of them
Clips with payed location and models are sold here 2k at $11 and 4K top $27 (I set them from $75 to $60).
I don't want P5 to sell my 4K clips for $25 and AdobeStock or SS the same clip for more than $100...
Beside that, bunch of my clips with no visible logos and with signed releases are now EDITORIALS without option to change them to commercial clips.
Pond5 obviously have one foot in the grave and this is fast way downhill before shutdown.

My prices are still the same as when I set them manually. Lucky me I guess
