Enhanced Sky

What's your guys' take on me adding the slight purpley gradient above the Pittsburgh skyline in this recent submission of mine?

I felt the sky needed something to enhance it since there weren't any clouds up there.

Too much? I kinda like it.

I think the best way is to put the one you changed and also upload the one you did nothing to.

I like it with the gradient but you never know what the end user wants to do with it.

Understood. What's the policy here on P5 for submitting multiple "versions" of the same clip?

I know on other sites, they frown upon that.

well .... it does not look natural. I also did a couple clips by changing everything to a red tint . Curators told me that the end user if they wanted it could make the color change themselves. I agree now. If you make something unnatural the buyer cannot make it normal easily. I think the clip has good potential but only is natural colors.

Thanks for the input. I'll keep your suggestions in mind for future submissions. I have a hard time keeping my hands out of the artistic side of things. I have to remember that I'm not the end user.

I do have an unaffected version up at a slightly different angle, so I'll keep that affected one up as well.

In my defense, the purple does seem a little more overwhelming in the preview than in the full rez, but since buyers see the preview, perhaps I should think in those terms.

I'm not too concerned; Pittsburgh is a great city, and I'm sure I'll be there quite a few more times when the weather breaks in a few months.

This past weekend was unusually warm and sunny for 1 day, so I had to jump.

We prefer for clips to be submitted in their original state whenever possible.

saying that, we do have some graded clips on the site, basically the rule of thumb is that if the grading is a marked improvement to the clip, feel free to submit it.

Also we typically do allow 1 to 2 multiple versions of the same clip - so if you wanted to submit ungraded versions, that'd be fine, just don't go overboard. If I start getting 20 versions of the same clip they'll all be rejected.

I was wondering how the preview looked to the full HD. Also in the preview the top corners have vignette or a slightly darker look. It is hard to back off the color corrections and enhancements. I used to do a lot more but I'm trying real hard to leave things as close to original as possible. Most buyers can then enhance to meet their needs, especially if they are trying to make it match into an ongoing project.

I understand 100%.

Thanks. I won't go much beyond basic color correcting in the future for most of my submissions.

What caused the vignette in the corners? Is your lens shade too small?
ODesigns 1 Dec 2008 23:38
No, I added that. I won't in the future.
