Cropping video

I have been getting to grips using the very nice sony rx10 which gives amazing quality. However, being a novice at video i look at my footage on the pc and see obvious errors. I have some nice footage but didn't notice part of something far right of the shot in view. Is it possible to crop it out like you can with images in software?

You can but you must pay for a software to do the job. (eg Magix, Trial version cost nothing)
It is better to reshoot than cropping when possible.

MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 2014, You don't need a Plus version, it doesn't give you anything more but some effects which I never use. (I have a Plus version).
Do download a Trial version first and test if you like it. Same to PowerDirector etc, first test and buy. I tried PowerDirector but not as many codes support as Magix. You must decide by yourself what you want. Other artist will give you professional program that may be useless for a beginner. I use my Magix many years and upgrade to 2013 last year and happy with it. It jam sometimes as other many software, but generally it is very useful for me.
If you buy download version from US site, cheaper...All American companies treat European as idiots customers, just change the dollar sign to €, although Magix is a German company, they do so too, shame..

I am trying Magix as you suggested but when exporting an uncompressed rendering of the edit it has made a file of 3+ GB from a source that is 71 MB. How can this be ? What file type would you render from a AVCHD ? Also, when editing in full screen the quality of the video does not look as good as the file played out of magix.

Go to Film Export---Export Quicktime--A window popup--Choose your resolution 1920x1080, frame rate, (25 or 30 depend on yourself and your shooting rate), set to progressive, click FORMAT button, another white window popup---click video codes button-- A window popup, choose compression--(either photojpeg or h264 as you like), set quality to 80-90% as you like...
Inside Magix looks nicer than on Window.. True. don't know why, can't help..Main thing is you can upload to P5 and it sell..

Thanks. I did manage to export an MP4 at full resolution that looked ok so I will wait and see what P5 say. I could not see any FORMAT option.

The original was 69MB and the rendered MP4 is 23 MB but I did trim the film each end.

How many percentage you set Quality for?
My mp4 is also VERY small, so I dare not to convert to mp4. I am afraid it is wrong, but may be not.
How do you like to use Magix so far...
You can also cut the sound track by clicking the Timeöline "Chain" icon, then highlight the sound track into yellow color, press "X", that is...
