How to export 4k clips from premiere under 1.8 gb?

Hi,

I recently got a GH4 and I'm trying to export 4k clips from premiere under 1.8gb (as it says on the pond5 clips requirement page) but I can only manage to get it at arround 7.5gb for a 20 seconds clips. If I want to make it smaller, it send me to HD.

Does anyone know how can I export 4k under 1.8 gb?

Thank you.

what codec are you using!??! 7.5gig is nuts.

I've been using prores 422, not the HQ, for mine. 20 sec will give you about 1.5 gig at 90-95% quality.

Sounds simlair to exporting using the "Match footage" option, which would create a lossless file format. Make sure your unchecked that option then use a compression, I would go with dapoopta option, we are still finding our way with what suits our needs with 4k codecs.

I take the 4K native clips from the GH4 into Mpeg Streamclip, trim them to the desire length then save them. They stay native and are not re-encoded. The GH4 at 4K has a variable bitrate. A 20 second clip should range from 200mb to 300mb based on the amount of movement in the scene. IMO why degrade you footage by encoding it for your NLE then again as you export it. Get exposure and white balance right in the camera and you won't have to mess with it. Most of my stock video customers want the native files with no tweaks so they can modify it to their needs.

Mark29 posted: "stock video customers want the native files with no tweaks so they can modify it to their needs", there is your rule of thumb relative to any camera. Wise words.

So what setting exactly should I put on premiere? I'm going quiet mad trying to figure it out. Thank you all for the help!

Mpeg Streamclip is free. Just try it and simplify your process. If you original question is not about preparing clips for stock on Pond5 but as a video project then I am sorry I don't use Premiere so I can't offer and help on that. You might want to try over at https://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere

MPEGStreamclip is reencoding clips. There is no trimming without re encoding.

To my knowledge it is not re-encoding. https://wiki.thayer.dartmouth.edu/display/computing/Trimming+videos+with+MPEG+StreamClip

Also from the user manual.

TRIMMING THE STREAM
Once you have made a selection, you may choose to trim the selected portion,
temporarily cutting away anything before the In point and after the Out point. Use "Trim"
from the Edit menu, and the movie will be trimmed to the selected portion (or something
less, according to keyframe positions); you can then perform further (and fi
ner)
selections. "Trim" does not affect source fi
les in any way
