what am I missing?

Is there something I should be doing to get more buyers for the clips I have posted? More keywords? Some other method I'm not aware of? 1 sale in 2 months.
Granted many are specialty clips but I expected a few more sales.

Thanks

Get more clips online :-). With that small of a number it is hard to sell a lot. 1 sales every two months seems about right with 86 clips.

After looking through your clips I notice you are pricing at $120. That might be another issue.

When I started off here, ancy to get a sale, I read all the forums and listened to contributors saying "it will take more clips and more time", and they are completely right. Also, as far as pricing goes, only my "cheaper" videos have sold (less than $25), except recently I sold a clip for $35.00. What you can do is raise the price after your first sale, since you know that that particular content is wanted by buyers. Also, I've read that it takes awhile for the keywording to make its way to search engines, or at least make its way near the top or show up more often. So shoot more, possibly adjust prices, and have patience. Welcome to the addicting world of shooting stock.

Eat more fruit and make sure you wave at old ladies crossing the street with a big happy grin so that they can't help but smile back. That will build your kharma and result in more sales.

Pricing is not the issue based on the quality of the clips you have Cinematologist (like that name!) - It seems things are cyclical. (As are most businesses) - but pricing is not the issue. For those of you that think you need to give stuff away - do so on your own, but don't tell others to do it as well. - Here is the reality: If a company (production) needed to send out a second unit to get footage, you are talking a quick 5 grand right off the bat. Pros know why. Then there is the amortization of the equipment costs, your time, your effort and last but not least - being in the right place at the right time. - A clip's price has no bearing on whether it will sell or not - the content does however. If you shoot crap (and we all do sometimes) - don't expect miracles of sales quantities. But good shots, good framing etc..will always sell, and at any price. Low balling prices just diminishes the industry as a whole. Look what happened in the stock photo industry - 25 cents...hell, I won't even lift the camera for that price. So to all of you that think you are smart by selling off stuff cheap - you are simply killing the industry - period. It may take a while - but the end result is a "whore'd out" game - much like many other industries in this world.. remember the days where you could actually make a good living selling computers? Just my 10 cents. And yeah, I am tired of hearing this low ball garbage. Wake up people, get professional, act professional and you will be paid like a professional. If you do this as a sideline or as an amateur - don't give advice - please.

I won't argue the price issue, but I will agree that sales volume IS directly related to the size of your portfolio. Unless you have just a totally unique and relevant clip that stands out above everything else, you portfolio will get lost in the vast growing sea of clips online at Pond5. Volume and quality are the key. You've got the quality part down, now just build your portfolio.

Vadervideo, I agree with you, I didn't mean to emphasize pricing so much. I just was talking about my own experience (when lowering the prices on my clips led to more sales) and I figured since that footage that I shot was shot on a lower end camera that it wasn't worth as much as many of the clips I see on here with better lighting and shot in higher quality (better cameras and lenses) but you're right, this is a "sideline" thing for me, and I am starting off. I will take your advice and bring my prices up as to not influence the slashing of pricing that goes on in stock.

And cinematologist, great clips by the way, I think you have rare and hard to get footage that will sell well eventually (the ships breaking through ice was amazing!).
