as per title... if i make some shots using this phone during an exotic trip, will it be OK, technically speaking?

I'ts depends of overall quality of your video footages. less noise - better!)

Content is the king. Stock sites are full of 'exotic' shots. Try something different, exceptional, rare. Mobile shots look great on a phone but put on a big screen they really suck - the compression is huge and gives lots of artifacts of all kind. I do not discourage you to shoot mobile, just trying to present the reality. Go shoot, edit, upload and see what comes out. Good luck!

Agreed. Almost should be its own niche market- footage from smartphones (to be used on smartphones) .. .can be quite nice in the right hands/gimbal, composition/SUBJECT ... in my hands, it tends to get used (for instance) a darling semi-tame mouse thing I saw yesterday .. looks fantastic on the phone (Samsung S9) but looks compressed and wobbly and oversharpened, etc on bigger screens. But if it's what you have to hand, of course.

Put another way ... I've tried, but always end up rejecting my own shots. Have never uploaded a single shot from S8 or S9 to Pond5. Sadly there is no mode for advanced users for video on these things.

thanks! the question arise because i'll do soon a trip to Oman so i will have to possibility to make some of the "exotic" shots i was referring to. i can also borrow an olympus omd em5 from my wife but she will be busy taking pictures! :D

if you plan to do a trip why not to take a real camera with you??

I couldn't agree more. You cannot afford new there plenty of affordable used gear to be had.

that's a good question!
Actually my first interest is not video but music, being a musician myself - i will have a portable recorder with me to record some exotic sounds.
my wife enjoy making photos and i borrow her camera sometimes... so we don't want another one around! :D
i took some shots during our past travels (see my profile...) and some of them also sold, but this is not what i'm actually focusing on... :)

If it is your wife, let her have the phone to take pictures with and grab the big camera for video! Tell her how convenient is the mobile for taking pictures!

You could be a Guinea pig tester for the Sony RX0 mk2 if it's out yet. Grab one of those things and go to town! I wager its quality is a whole bunch better than that of a mobile phone camera, yet would be very tiny/discrete/unobtrusive.
