I kinda agree with you jetset...

I'm also potentially looking at the xf300.

@Jake: yep B&H.

I rented the fs100 and was not very impressed with it, much rather use my mark ii for that type of shooting. I want something to replace the fx1000. tired of ripping tapes.

I always get the ballpark market price of used gear by doing a completed auction search on Ebay. If there are enough sales, you can get an eyeball idea of what your camera should go for.

@dapoopta I'm happy with the FX 1000 since purchasing MRC-1 using 32gig cards. The unit can record while running tape or record by itself as long as there is a tape in the deck. In the Z7 a tape isn't required to record to the MRC-1 but the FX 1000 does. For the 700 plus dollars it was worth for me rather than buying a new camera for stock or special events..

@jason, I believe that dapoopta has no wife, kids, grandsons, mortgage, 2nd house, ex-wife, alimony payments, nor child support to pay like many of us old guys and stock footage is a hobby not a necessary addition to his Social Security check. He has money to spare. He can buy a camera as expensive as a new sport car. jejejejejeje.

I'm actually in the same situation. I want to upgrade my xh-a1. I was thinking about the xf300. But people always talk about the Sony's. Why is the xf300 often left out in the dark?
LUXORPYRAMID 17 Dec 2011 16:14
Eddie, I believe it is the sensor size. The EX1r and EX3 has three 1/2 cmos chips. The XF300 and 305 has three 1/3 cmos chips. Some people say that 1/3 chips belong to prosumer cameras and not full professional cameras.

heheh Luxor, I do have kids and a house payment :-).

The stock footage is an extra income and I like to invest the money I make back into it, since my full time job pays for my other expenses.

I feel to produce better you have to upgrade equipment, just like when I took the leap from the hv30 to the fx1000/mark ii. Equipment doesn't make you a better videographer by no means, but I want something that is easier. I'm tired of tapes.

I'm torn between going crazy or just doing like Jason said. I really hate ripping tapes!

@dapoopta: This 8k camera is just right for you. Very inexpensive. Just $65K. LOL
