Well, I still need some simple app that will tell me what is the file I am holding. BTW, the 5D2 is 1080P 30 which means 29.97 according to the book. I did not find it in the "format matrix".

At present 1080/30p and 1080/60p are classified 29.97/59.94 and it has to do with the electrical system we use here in the US which is 60Hz. TV broadcast use either 720p or 1080i and they do not broadcast 1080p due to bandwidth. Also the reason for classifying 30p/60p as 29.97/59.94 is the color sub-carrier.
Wideweb in your country it's the same problem with the 50Hz frequency used there.

Wideweb - Just for grins... what does the Info Window in QT Pro say during playback?

There is no such "info window" in QT Pro. Did you mean Inspector or Properties?
The Inspector say the path size, codec duration, fps, current time etc.
Thanks.

I believe one of the firmware upgrades to the 5D MKII changed the fps to 29.97 and is no longer 30 fps.

The FPS values are either 29.97 or 30, depends on the file. The codec is H.264. These files come either from the 5d2 or generated on my computer from stills. I want to confirm that they are progressive. True, the upgrade of the 5D2 changed the FPS from 30 to 29.97, and it's progressive in both cases.

Ahh... I missed the part up near the top about the 5d2, with the Codec being H.264 I would say your files are progressive.
