the 'trimming' doesn't have to re-encode? Is it instant and doesn't re-render out another file?

Correct. Under edit "select in" then "select out" then "delete audio tract" if necessary, then select "trim". You will now have a shorter length video clip. Final step is to select "save as" mov. IMO it does not render out or encode.

mark,

I know you can cut/trim your file with GH4 and save as MOV, delete the sound track (Very good indeed to save file space). But can you keep the original file also?
mark29 24 May 2014 19:31
Yes, the original file is left intact. Just download the program and try it. Its free.

Thanks Mark

I did not know it can handle 4K. Now I test my 4K photo T/L (PhotoJpeg MOV) to h264 MOV.
Mpeg steamclip: A problem cause the program working correctly. Window will close the program.
I think h264 don't support 4K, is that right?

What format do you shooting with your GH4?
mark29 24 May 2014 20:28
I shoot the GH4 when in 4K mode at MOV 3840x2160 29.97p, 100Mbps LPCM. Mpeg steamclip has worked fine for me.

Is it 4K MOV photoJpeg? When yes, then it is clear.

Can anyone from P5 tell us if h.265 is accepted yet? There are great software conversions now available to do it. Should save P5 a lot of money in transfer and storage costs. What say ye P5?

Interesting thought.
"The issue in the past regarding H.264 was that at the end of 2015, the MPEG LA group was set to start charging anyone and everyone who used the H.264 codec to upload or distribute video online. That includes anyone uploading videos on the web to sites like Vimeo and YouTube. While being impossible to enforce in the first place, MPEG LA did respond by extending the 2015 deadline indefinitely (which also means that they can essentially revoke it at any time). Now with the new H.265 codec, that will never be something content creators will have to worry about."

Upload a file in h265 and see if it works
