I don't see how it takes 50+ keywords to highlight the most important aspects of a clip. I'm sure there are some exceptions out there. I personally hate doing it though, and I'm thrilled to not have to do more then 25. Hopefully I don't lose out on sales because of it.

Hi!
From my experience on P5, having less keywords gives very clear search results. I can say that very intelligent search engine is implemented here. Some time ago I also thought that I need many keywords, but now I'm sure that 25 keywords are more than enough.

i guess that's the essence of the argument,
yep...i think we all agree that the keywording part of this job sucks...but will making it an easier job for contributors (by only having to come up with 25 words vs. 50) translate into a better search experience for customers trying to find that perfect clip? - especially as the portfolio here grows bigger by the day.
i wonder why the decision to go down to only 25 words is being made...when its not that way anywhere else?

Didn't they implement some sort of X thing next to keywords to help get rid of them quickly?
I'm happy about the decision to go down to 25, the keywords can be a bit of a mystery though. Such as if I don't do 50 and everyone else has 50 do I lose sales, if I do 5 are they seen by the search as more valuable so does having 10 make better since then 25?

- and does it include the time, place and weather keywords that you tick off but sometimes seem unnecessary? It would be tempting to avoid those in this case - or are they used much in the searching?

The question that I have is does the search engine catch words used in the Clip Name and Description, and is that considered part of the 25 limit? What about all of the ticked words in the template settings?

I don't think that is part of it, I think the 25 is just typed in words.

Right now, the search engine does search name, description, and other fields. We'll be weighting keywords more highly, however, and lessening the relative importance of terms in the description as more words are used, so there will be no advantage to adding extra terms into the description.
The 25 keyword limit is for typed keywords only -- it doesn't apply to the checkboxes.

If all other sites allow up to 50 Keywords, why P5 would be disadvantaged ?
I seen here in P5 many clips with more than 100 Keywords, it is clear that this is an exaggeration but also saw clips here with "0 Zero" keywords...another exaggeration !
I usually put between 25 to 35, but recognize that sometimes need more than 35 and sometimes 15 or 20 quite enough.
The fact allow 50 keywords does not mean you put 50.......nobody forces you! :))
I repeat again, If all other sites allow up to 50 Keywords, why P5 would be disadvantaged.... why ??
Please be happy :)

I'm not sure I know what your saying JoLin but I think that it's not really a disadvantage if everyone is using the 25 words to actually say what's in the clip instead of some of the stuff that's gone on. See so it will be an advantage to the buyers when they don't get a bunch of stuff that does not fit there search and an advantage to us by not taking forever to do the keywording.
