What P5 Does Not Want Any More

Don't take it personal kk5hy...i didn't say that only Who has been here longest would be afected but only the clips that don't sell after a long time...anyway i do agree with you about the list of saturated concept that pond should provide us or the idea that after a long time that a clip doesn't sell it gets a review again to check if it still fits pond5 needs...
What about if all the category get oversaturated by 80% of clips that sell and 20% that don't after a long time and you can't upload New content???would you at least check again this 20% and maybe delete some of them to permit New content to come in??

Hi, I'm not taking it personally. Nor do I want you to think I'm attacking you.
I just find it interesting when I see these ideas pop up that the result is for someone else to delete their video to make room for the person posting the idea.
Even in my own video world I keep thinking how many "businessmen on a cell phone" can there be on one site.

But as I stated, I wouldn't delete anything since you never know when it will sell.
I would however not be upset if pond5 told me they will delete a certain clip because it hasn't sold because the quality was crap.
That would be up to them.

Agree absolute poor quality should be re-curated but never based on age. Every week I still sell for the first time clips from 2008 / 2009. That must mean the need is there and stronger than newer clips.

When ever a rejection is made because the subject is saturated I believe that subject should be re-curated and delete the crap and not the oldest. There are definitely crap footage that are not very old. Rejecting because the subject is saturated is not the right way ... curate the entire subject, delete the crap and accept better quality again.

Maybe i didn't explain myself properly because of my english and i'm Sorry for that....maybe i need some more training...:)
Kk5hy: i know there are many businessman at the phone but some of them is we'll done some not..:)..and here comes the point...quality comes first and that is what i mean..they should re-cure old clips that oversaturate the category and have never sold to check if they are poor quality or not, anyway a clip that takes 6/7 years to sell one time and the next sell will be after other 6 years i wonder if it worth...

Although I think we are in broad agreement, how do you define "crap"? A shaky handheld soft focus shot might be just what someone wants!
JHDT_Productions 23 Apr 2014 10:53
My definition would be more technical. Lighting and composition comes to mind.
sebolla74 23 Apr 2014 11:28
Hi,if you had a shaky footage out of focus and one in focus what would you buy knowing that u can defocus in post??:)...it's hard to say when a footage it's crap because it could fit someone needs...but as bytes cost, would it worth?? By your opinion everyone can upload everything they shot...shaky,over/underexposured and so on because someone needs it...i think this is the faster way to gets concepts oversaturated...
TheEngineer 23 Apr 2014 15:49
I don't disagree, what I am saying is that the definition of "crap" varies from person to person.

You just never know what people will want to buy. I took a trip out to the Big Sur coast and got some of the best footage I ever took in my life, yet I've only sold one clip...I sell plenty of clips of my cat drinking out of the faucet though... go figure.
