Wireless Mic

I have the Sennheiser Evolution G2 100 Series kit that jason mentions above. Had it for a few years and have to say it was a great choice. It hooks to your camera via XLR like you would expect. The audio quality is very good.

A couple other cool things, like jason mentions is the wireless option for the hand held mic. I've used that with a shotgun mic in some situations with wide shots for short films. You hook it up and can position it close to the actors (usually behind something so it's not visible to the camera) and get good audio for the shot. Great for those times when you're shooting wide and can't get a boom too close to the actors. You can hide it behind a plant, in some bushes, etc.

Another thing that you can do (with a Mac at least) is hook up the receiver directly into the mic slot on the computer and record VO or looping sessions directly into Soundtrack Pro. With it being wireless your talent can be in a separate, quiet room and record without distractions or ambient noise.

If I were to buy this, could I hook up more than 1 mic to it? or how does that work? Say I was doing a wedding, How would you recommend recording the vows.

When I shoot a wedding, I will usually just give a wireless lav to the groom, during most of the ceremony, and especially during the vows, the groom will be standing close enough to the bride & minister for the mic to pick up what they say.

http://www.vimeo.com/3342187 , here is a test Mark. Read the vimeo description :-) You all know me, and nothing less would be expected.

Cbertucio, wouldn't you want to give the minister mic? That would have been my plan...

You could also give the minister, that would be good, and there wouldn't be a problem with it, if you can hook up two mics to the camera. I shoot with a Sony HDR-FX7 with the one stereo mini mic jack (same as the FX1000 i believe), so I find hooking up more than one mic to be problematic, and I only have one wireless mic anyways.
In my experience with weddings, The one mic on the groom works well, and you will get good audio for when the bride & groom say the vows, the most important part of the ceremony.

I meant to the minister instead of the groom...

has anyone tried a wireless mic with an mp3 player? (one that can record audio)
